I will try to explain this:
    Read this blog: http://citystateentertainment.com/20...l-principle-7/

    Marc mentioned 3 crafting paths:
1 for everybody (fighting characters can gather)
2 for crafter characters (they probably don't fight and if they do, they will be poor as crafting will require dedication, dunno if they can gather)

The crafting system is broken down into three specific tracks, journeyman, master, and artisan (placeholder name). Non-crafter classes are limited to the journeyman track while players who choose to play crafters can pursue the master track and then, if they so choose, the artisan track. Each track has its own set of skills and abilities along with leveling curves appropriate to characters that are not full-time crafters or those who choose to play a full-time crafter.
Crafter characters can only craft. It is a dedicated option. But hey...bnobody said that you can't have an crafting alt I am gonna do my main as a crafter and alt for figthing.

1st one will allow you to craft basic stuff and repair basic stuff.
Of the three tracks, the journeyman track is the least time-consuming and centers around the repairing and creation of a limited number of mundane items. As our goal here is to not use item decay as a true money sink (through the continued and costly repairing of items), but rather use it to ensure ongoing demand for new items, non-crafters will be able to repair low-level items and most crafters will not have to level through the repairing of items. While there is some cost involved in repairing of items, it will be quite small and we expect that most players will simply repair their own items as they level up their crafting skills. This track will also allow players to create non-magical arrows, sharpen their blades, and create some parts of structures and roads as well as to partake in a number of other crafting-related activities.

2 others are for Crafters and will give 2 different ways - more on that in the link and future info

Items which are better than basic items, will decay in time with possibility to salvage them. There will be no repair option to keep the market flowing. It is an awesome idea. It is like in Entropia Universe, we had "limited" items - items that were decaying in time and couldn't be repaired at all. This keeps the market flowing and worked well and mined materials vere nicely consumed. The only problem were old repairable items and repairable versions of limited items, but those were rare as hell and expensive.
    CU won't have these.

Crafter characters will spend their time on crafting. In EU we had such players, who were doing this and planing this for many many hours/day and it kept them busy. As CU will have slitghty complciated process of crafting:
Players will create items through a combination of experimentation and learned patterns based on the use and creation of various alloys, ingredients and parts and then shaping them into the item that the crafter wishes to make. The imbuing of the item with a limited set of magical properties will be another step in what will be overall a time-consuming process for the crafter.
In time, many items will probably end up to sell for 105% - 160% of the crafting cost. Only above-average and hard to craft items will be veery expensive. Normally, prices will depend on the crafting cost, time, rarity and of course, strenght of the item. If only 1-2 carfters will have, let's name it as an exmaple, "legendary Sword of Masacre" which will be one of the best looking and killing weapon, the price could be 1k% or more. It also depends on the welath of customers.

As mentioned in interview or one of the blogs, crafters will build all the materials for housing, structures and siege equipment. So you would be able to order (as a guild) 100 catapults from that crafter or that crafter guild. Awesome idea.

It is like connecting DAoC with WAR with EvE and Entropia Universe, all this in dark fantasy setting, aww, nice product, hopefully they will do it well

Hopefully me explaination helped Damn, I will be veery active on official forums.

he is saying this up front so "you people" don't even waste your time looking at this game or waste "our" time crying about it. First and foremost this game is designed to be niche and is definitely not for you.

For people that never played daoc (classic or maybe DF) and like PvP, think of Tarren Mill vs South Shore back in the early days of WoW now multiple by awesome of 10x. You played daoc simply because you wanted to beat someone else and take their shit (keep/relics). There was no point, no major progression, you just fought because someone attacked your keep. People that were PvE'n at the time dropped waht they were doing to come defend/attack. Everything was for the realm. Realm > Guild > Self. It was amazing just how many people shared this view. The few baddies that wanted to troll or actively ignore their "duties" were extremely well known and not invited to play in the reindeer games.

The only thing required of PvE oriented people for this game is to sit on forums and laugh at how "bad" this game will be with it's 500 subscribers or whatever. But please, stay very far away for the good of both of us!

Kinda Necro-ing....but didn't want to start another topic...

Over on Massively, and that "other" place I won't go (MMORPG) they have write ups today on what the Kickstarter tiers may look like. Mark is actively looking for feedback on the plans, so if you're interested, go have a read!

Camelot Unchained is now the #1 ranked game on MMORPG.com hype meter! It's cool to see so many people want an RvR focused game like this.

The number of people that have wanted another daoc type of game is much larger than given credit for. There are quit a few known "hardcore" guilds as well still going strong( 10+years) in many games just waiting for another GOOD daoc type of game to come out. An examplle would be GW2 guilds.. PRX and Titan, even though Titan quit GW2 out of boredom. You can also look at the success of Eve as well to show that there is a fairly large market for this exact type of game..pure pvp with no wow clone carebear bs to ruin it.
Id gladly pay 20 bucks a month and throw money at the guy making it if he is successful with making the game exactly like he is describing. Im willing to bet that there are a lot of people out there that feel that way as well.

I'll gladly follow this if Mark follows through on his vision.

Is he tied to anyone right now? Does he work still with EA? Or has he gone independent for this project? If indie, I will definitely support his kickstarter.
    I'm still thinking about it...

He has no ties with any "big" house developers. 100% indie and using 2m dollars of is own money on the project.

I Liked DAOC, no I LOVED it. But let's be real. Warhammer was badly done (mecanics were good, but game awefull. Not expecting major faction imbalance was just the dumbest thing ever as first exemple) and imperator sucked so hard it never came to life.

I won't jump in the hype wagon. If it finally is the "reborn of daoc-like RvR" nice, I'll buy my box and pay my sub, but until proven good I won't hope anything (way more hope in TESO).

I thought this snippet of information was important to give some perspective on the development cycle.

Currently the game is scheduled for a release in late 2015.

But since we all know that PC games never progress according to schedule, especially not MMOs.....2016 may seem like a more likely date.

Hopefully with the funding they already got thru Kickstarter, plus prob extra developer/publishing support now that its clear there is interest via donations from people who want to see this game.....the development and release of this game will be much earlier, like in 2014.....if they start now I don't see how it could take more then 2 years.

I'm not sure how an only PVP game will do though, I hope they find a way to incorporate some PVE elements, and also smaller scale PVP gameplay since I'm not a big fan of 50 vs 50 stuff (only that is.... a mix of small and large scale battles is fine).

I just hope he gets people who understand what makes MMO combat fun and work, and what makes its boring dogshit. I got excited for WAR, I got excited for AoC, I got excited for Rift, I got excited for SWTOR and GW2, but they all have awful combat, and I cant get excited for MMOs anymore with each and everyone of them not able to capture what WoW does so well in it's Combat, or come up with an alternative that is actually fun.

PvP dedicated MMO sounds cool, but I am so burned from so many other games. I cant go through it again.
"Gamer" is not a bad word. I identify as a gamer. When calling out those who persecute and harass, the word you're looking for is "asshole." @_DonAdams
When you see someone in a thread making the same canned responses over and over, click their name, click view forum posts, and see if they are a troll. Then don't feed them.

I wouldn't expect a 2014 release. I think those dates were with the idea that the kickstarter would be successful, as I'm fairly certain I read in one of the blog posts that the game simply wouldn't be made if it failed.

I remember the WAR Beta before EA bought out Mythic, and in the trifecta of Jacobs, Hickman and Barnett, Jacobs always seemed to be the one who actually understood what the game needed to be, not a pair of clowns who just pandered to EA like the other 2 did.

They've revealed concept art and a short vid of their first race, Tuatha De Danann. Looks pretty damn cool:

There's also an engine demo that's apparently supposed to show that they can handle tens of thousands of players. But the demo is all the same model doing the same animation, so they might be trying to bullshit us; as any decent engine should be able to lateralize something like that.
