Why not a mount?

I think there was only ever one Blizzcon mount. In general I think Blizz has just adopted the model that you get one murloc pet per Blizzcon. Don't think they're going to change that now but who knows, after all I didn't see the Quilen mount coming at all as MoP collector.

It could also be related to the next WoW expansion, depending on how far along with development they are at the time of Blizzcon. They had the Deathwing murloc a few years back. If it's indeed a Burning Legion-centered expansion, I wouldn't mind a Kil'Jaeden murloc.

We had the following pets of lasts Blizzcons:

Murky (Blizzcon 2005) Warcraft themed
Mini Tyrael (World Wide Invitational 2008) Diablo themed
Grunty (Blizzcon 2009) Starcraft themed
Deathy (Blizzcon 2010) Warcraft themed
Murkablo (Blizzcon 2011) Diablo themed

The next in line would be a Starcraft themed, but Heart of the Swarm gave already a Baneling pet. So i think it will another Starcraft themed pet to keep this line. It would be a Heart of the Swarm themed Murloc probably.

As to what they will do: There is a strong possibility that Project: Titan information will be released at the next Blizzcon. Time lines seem to be getting around the point we will start seeing information about what the game is. Assuming that they do release Titan information the pet would most likely be themed in line with that.

Unlikely. I just don't think Titan is far enough along to get a reveal this year.

With the exception of Murky, the Blizzcon pets have been inspired by an upcoming game release so far (not counting the Tyrael pet since it technically wasn't from Blizzcon). My bet is that the upcoming one will be based on whichever game is set to release the soonest after Blizzcon this year.
