    Lore characters raid idea.

What about a future lore raid where there is an enemy so powerful mere players couldn't even scratch them. What if some how each class had 1 or 2 characters in lore that they would become while entering the raid. Say We had to kill an old god at full power. Shamans would become thrall, Mages would become Jaina, and priests would become Velen. Your spells and everything would stay the same, but health healing and damage would be increased by like 10 times. The raid bosses would also deal increased damage and have massive health pools.

I guess in the end you wouldn't need to scale anything, but scaling it all up is part of the fun of playing powerful lore characters. So if it happened in MoP. a dps would be doing 1.5m dps as Sylvanas the hunter etc, and a tank would have 10m hp. You would also look and appear to be the lore characters. It would be explained some how in the story why you are playing as those characters, so don't worry about lore problems.

Turning into them? nty. Just doesn't make a lot of sense really. Raids like DS, Firelands, Black Temple and so on where we fought alongside them were fun. I'm happy with the role played by our favourite NPCs as support rather than main event.

I dont see the problem. It would be just like the chen stormstout quest where u turn in to him. Some things dont need to make sense in a game like wow. For god sakes you get dragons in the mail.

I'm in the "meh" category -- if it was in the game, I wouldn't complain, but I don't want to encourage it, either.

I agree with the other two, not something I'd be too interested in. I play the game to be my own character, I don't want to turn into some major Lore character. I wouldn't mind fighting alongside them though.

So there would be multiple Jainas, Thralls, Varians, Velens, Baines, etc. running around in my 25-man raid? That sounds like a lore-BREAKING raid, not a lore raid. Also, what exactly is a lore raid? All raids have lore.

I'm pretty much with everyone else, it doesn't seem like something most people would really enjoy.

At best, a waste of development time.
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

I take it this is a raid where no one gets loot? You know, because why should Jaina give some random mage her new tier shoulders?

Considering we accomplish more than the lore characters now a days ill skip.

I would like this very much and actually had similar ideas to this before. I think it would work very well for a 5-man released in the last patch or as a section of the Siege of Orgrimmar raid where certain members of the party take control of major faction characters based around their class while other members of the raid would do something like kill waves of adds trying to aid the boss or using some kind of siege device like a cannon.

Also one idea I would love to see is a full siege engine instance or section of a dungeon where each person controls a different vehicle that has abilities somewhat based on their roll/class. Then for the boss at the end it would be some kind of giant titan robot/construct like XT and all of the parties siege engines would transform together Power Rangers style into a huge steam powered mecha and each member of the party needs to work together as essentially one giant character to defeat the boss, each person controlling an individual part of the robots body.

Another thing I think would be cool would be a 5-man (or a raid I guess) where you gain the aid of an NPC that you can control like a warlock or hunter controls a pet and you would need to not only work on playing as your characters roll in the instance, but also need to play strategically with the additional character each person controls. Hell to expand on this it would be cool to have a scenario where each player gets control of their own little squad of NPCs and is essentially based on the classic RTS games with more WoW game play mixed in, being able to fight along the units you control while using an interface to command your units. In fact I could see that being a new form of PvP or something: teams of 3 on each side that each controls their own cluster of units, all three players needing to work together to defeat the enemy team by combining RTS resource gathering/management/tactics and also the basic WoW PvP combat when encountering the units "leader" player of the opposite faction. In fact I guess it would essentially be the same as you the player acting as your units hero class character like from Warcraft III.

I actually see your point, it's interesting, but only if implemented correctly. But can you have multiple Thralls? What if you have 10 druids or monks, 10 Malfurion?

The power rangers part sounds horrible and genius at the same time. Not sure which one though.

That's all well and good for quests, but I'd rather kill stuff myself. Maybe there could be an element of a fight where a player controls one of these characters vehicle-style.

I would prefer if they turn the adventurers into real heroes rather than just mogging us into lore characters. It always bothered me that 40, 25, 10 random adventurers could take on the most dangerous foes of the world with zero to little help. It didn't bother me much when we were 40 people cause that kind of felt like an army but nowadays in 10m raiding this feeling is pretty gone now.

Some neat solo class questline(s) that develop your own story that makes your own characters and classes feel more powerful than any other same-class-npcs. Not developing a in itself stable world where the players interaction only scratch the surface but it has an impact which it should have because in every threat players were involved but not shown. Developing class questlines that makes you feel your class is more unique to any other classes that only this specific class can solve a certain problem (e.g. warlocks as the specialist for demons - rogues as spies, etc.).
Also increase the NPC interaction with your past actions. when you killed a certain boss got a title for it NPCs could interact to that.

This idea would work if it were a scenario, not a raid, unless there were up to 25 different lore characters you could become. Possible? Absolutely. Would they all be influential/popular/ well-known lore characters? Probably not.

It would be much easier as a scenario, since only three people are needed, and it's far easier to pull three major lore characters together than 25. I could easily see these as Caverns of Time scenarios, things that happened in the past but were really only experienced in books and short stories. Blizz has been trying to get the game and the books to correlate, and they've partially succeeded, but there are SO MANY books that are set before the game starts that are barely touched ingame. The War of the Ancients (sorry Well of Eternity, I liked you as a dungeon, but you broke the lore into a billion pieces by doing it that way... even if it was originally written by Knaak)

Not to pop the bubble but isn't all raiding based on helping lore characters anyway? They have to come along to "finish off" the boss and they get the credit. It's like raiding is all about lore characters' stories. Part of the reason why I don't care for it. Kill stealers!
