    New Graphics card

I'm having a big problem deciding on a graphics card.
Spent atleast 16 hours now reading reviews , still no decision.

There are some questions which i need answering.
    1. Is the 2gb Vram enough for 1080 p ( single monitor) gaming. I don't want to end up buying an expensive graphics card and than hitting this while playing skyrim or any other heavy vram games.
    2. How does Crossfire compare to Sli, i intend on buying a 2nd graphics card later on if/when new games require more power.
    3. Price , this is one of the things . i Can't tell which graphics card from the list is overpriced, so if you can look at the list down below and compare the prices and what you get. I wouldn't shy away from sli options (670 or any other) .

here's the list i've been talking about. I need you to limit yourself to it. ( the number before kn is the price ) ( 1 euro = 7,58411162)

    XFX AMD RADEON HD 7970 Ghz DD Tahiti XT2 3.499,00 kn 1050 Mhz 3 gb - 461.11 EUR - 616.74 USD
    Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 4gb 4.899,00 kn 1006 / 1058 Mhz 4 gb - 645.62 EUR - 863.50 USD
    GAINWARD GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 3.799,00 kn 1084 / 1150 Mhz 2 gb - 500.66 EUR - 669.30 USD
    Asus GTX680-DC2O-2GD5 4.233,41 kn 1019 / 1084 Mhz 2 gb - 557.82 EUR - 745.76 USD
    Palit GTX680 2GB JETSTREAM 3.822,51 kn 1084 / 1150 Mhz 2 gb - 503.61 EUR - 673.12 USD
    MSI GF GTX 680 Lightning 3.973,02 kn 1100 Mhz/ 1176 2 gb - 523.51 EUR - 699.80 USD
    AMD RADEON HD 7970 Black Edition 1000M 3.199,00 kn 1000 Mhz 3 gb - 421.52 EUR - 563.42 USD
    MSI HD7970 Lightning BE 3.764,00 kn 1070 MHz 3 gb - 496.05 EUR - 662.93 USD
    GTX670 2GB JETSTREAM 2.721,00 kn 1084 mhz 2 gb - 358.59 EUR - 479.23 USD
    HD7950 OC Twin Frozr 3 2.424,00 kn 880 Mhz 3 gb - 319.57 EUR - 426.49 USD
    Asus GTX670-DC2-2GD5 447.05718 EUR - 595.72972 USD

    Thank you for the help.

1 2gb Vram should be plenty unless you are planning to do crazy stuff mod wise. (assuming you keep the 1080p)
2 SLI usually has less driver/performance issues when compared to CF, if multi cards SLI is the way to go.
3 this depends on your budget and how much you want to future proof it now or by the addition of SLI/CF later down the line. (out of the listed ones the best card would be the MSI 680 lightning but a 670 phantom/jetstream should work fine if you add SLI later down the line.

also what is your current rig and what other games do you intend to play?

Well i play almost all the latest games.

The ones i'm still playing are Skyrim, Wow, GW2, Sc2, Sw:tor.
I'm looking to pick up BF3 though.

    CPU: i7 2600k
    MBO: MSI Z68A-GD80 (G3)
    RAM: Ripjaws 16gb
HDD: SSD Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240 gb 1 TB HD.
    PSU: Seasonic S12D 750W
    OS: Windows 7

    the targeted resolution is 1920x1080

i'd say most of those games would favor an nvidia gpu over a AMD one.
MSI lightning 680 would be my pick if you could afford/justify it.

Unless you run a 120hz monitor, a 680 will suffice for a single display setup.

both options will work fine, however single cards are usually prefered over dual setups.

    Been thinking about it.
If i pick up the 670 palit card i would be saving 32& than if i would pick up the 680 card.
Is the 680 truly worth 32 % more than the single 670.

And how would a single 670 perform in most games. Would the difference between the 2 be that drastic.
    Thank you for your input.

I don't think it is worth 30% higher price. The difference in games is more like 5-10%

I don't really think the cost difference is worth the 5-10% extra performance in games. Go with the 670.

edit: nocturnal beat me to it. :/

I was heavily leaning towards buying a GTX670 myself, but then today decided on a 7970 ghz edition instead since it comes with both Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite which I was going to buy anyway. Not sure if you have any game package deals where you are. Something to look at.

I never liked XFX. Their cards tend not go be great at overclocking and their coolers aren't quite on par with gigabyte or Asus.

The problem is that's the only GHZ edition card that's available over here.
ASUS DCII 670 costs 23% more than the palit version.

    You can't get This?

Even comes with crysis 3 and bioshock

If worst comes to worse, you can get a stock clocked card and overclock it yourself.

edit; of course, not from newegg, as you're overseas, but just an example.

edit2: forgot to mention the only benefit to xfx is their warranty, which is generally useless unless you're in the US.

I don't live in the US so no. Even if i try look up the prices on ebay for the same card it's about double the price + when it finaly ships here i have to pay an additional 26 %

Really depends what the prices are like where you are, and since you haven't provided us your location, we have no idea. Following the pricing in the US and EU, the 7970 Ghz is the obvious choice compared to a 670. The only card that's viable price wise from Nvidia right now is the (non TI) GTX 660.
    i7-4770k - GTX 780 Ti - 16GB DDR3 Ripjaws - (2) HyperX 120s / Vertex 3 120
    ASRock Extreme3 - Sennheiser Momentums - Xonar DG - EVGA Supernova 650G - Corsair H80i

I'm going to go with Croatia, considering the currency listed is the Croatian Kuna.

    Edit.

    Currency converted using xe.com. (1 kn = 0.175946 USD || 1kn = 0.131828 EUR)

    XFX AMD RADEON HD 7970 Ghz DD Tahiti XT2 3.499,00 kn 1050 Mhz 3 gb - 461.11 EUR - 616.74 USD
    Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 4gb 4.899,00 kn 1006 / 1058 Mhz 4 gb - 645.62 EUR - 863.50 USD
    GAINWARD GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 3.799,00 kn 1084 / 1150 Mhz 2 gb - 500.66 EUR - 669.30 USD
    Asus GTX680-DC2O-2GD5 4.233,41 kn 1019 / 1084 Mhz 2 gb - 557.82 EUR - 745.76 USD

    HD7950 OC Twin Frozr 3 2.424,00 kn 880 Mhz 3 gb - 319.57 EUR - 426.49 USD

Someone with more knowledge about graphic cards than me should be able to pick the best price vs performance card in that list, based on the added EU and USA prices. Ofcourse also taking your requirements into account.
