Talking Hello, concerns about Gaming build.

I would like to start off saying I mainly play WoW and SC2, and I have several games which my computer cannot run at all/ very low, poor fps. I was looking into getting the Budget Gaming 720 build set to run Bioshock (Which I cannot run the sound and I lag horribly.) and Supreme Commander 2 (Just the tutorial lags me for about 15 seconds to switch a frame.)

I was wondering if that 720 build would be enough to run those games efficiently? Also, what monitor option would be best for the RTS games like SC2 and Supreme Commander?

Notes: I will get a SSD to help out, I believe I read it helps load times if games are installed to it. I have a mouse, and keyboard, buying the OS separately. Thanks for any info and help!

This thread is useless without a pointer to the proposed build.

Yes, Marest Budget $720 build would do fine with the games you listed, I would also suggest that you get an IPS monitor if your budget will allow for that.

If you can't afford it you could add a storage drive later on, assuming the 120GB SSD will be enough to hold you over for a while?

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB $74

Could switch the motherboard and CPU to save you a little but this would give you the best performance and the CPU can be overclocked later on if you need.

NZXT Source 210 $30 if you need to shave off some cash in the build, you'll miss out on front USB 3.0 but might not be a big deal to you.

N0cturnal, thanks for the info on the monitor, I found an IPS monitor with only 60hz refresh rate, should I look for one with 120hz instead?

Notarget, can I use the CPU you put into the Marest 720 build? And yes the 120GB SSD will be enough but I wanted to have both a HDD and SSD to have a full build.

There are no real 120Hz IPS monitors, there are only a few Korean versions that you have to "overclock" and run outside of spec.

The thing is to fit in the HDD (storage drive) and stay below budget you're going to sacrifice performance, if you could wait an extra month or two for the HDD ($60-80) you could keep the good performance and get your storage drive)

Can you stretch the budget to 800? Above is with the 500GB Western digital HDD, 1TB as linked earlier would be ~$74

This build is with the CPU from Marest's build, if you can't wait for the HDD or simple can't pay extra.

Yes I could stretch it to 800, just didn't want it to pass 900 or 950 ideally. Also, what other cases are available for it, should I just look for ATX / Micro ATX?

Then definitely pick build one in above post (i5-3570k build). I chose that case because it's cheap but still decent quality. Here are a few I can recommend within $50-70 range.

    NZXT Source 220 front USB 3.0 $50
Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case $60
Antec One ATX Mid Tower Case $55
COOLER MASTER Elite 431 Plus $35-55

Epic!! Hopefully some of those parts have some specials in Newegg. Thanks for the extra cases, I'm going with the Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus case, probably place a light inside later on. I really appreciate the help!!!
