Short answer, no it's not. You should be stacking mastery after you hit the goblin haste break point of 9261.

9778 haste > mastery if you're not a goblin.

Hello dear warlocks.

I'm raiding in 25man guild and we are progressing HC Lei Shen currently. I'm playing as affliction warlock and I think I'm pulling decent dps before first transition but after that, my dps goes down. - Should I use SoC at all when lightning balls spawn? (We normally have 2 dks so they can grip them everytime) or should I just focus on dpsing Lei Shen?
- Should I spec demonology for this fight? I don't have the uvls trinket but I do have 4 set of T15. If I should spec to demonology, should I gem for crit?

Demonology will always shine on fights that require lots of burst aoe. In this case, demonology is still perfectly viable without uvls. As affliction your ball dps will be abysmal so you're better off focusing the boss. Truthfully, you're gimping your raid by not playing demonology.

Hi again! Not going to go as in-depth as making a vid about it this time...

I'm looking at your Twin Consorts log since that has a pretty good potential for demo locks.

I notice you're opening with Curse of the Elements on lu'lin. While I recognize the need to get that curse out asap, you're able to pull off something abit more interesting on Suen before she disappears. I assume you're running with a pull timer, and if that is the case then I would like to suggest you to try a bit more "high risk high reward" opener. Check out this video, and notice what I am doing to Suen in the opener. It takes me 1 second to get all my procs up and a double Doom on her, but that means I'm swimming in imps, fury - and dps for the next 2 minutes. What I do is that roughly 0.7 sec before timer reaches 0 I cast a Fel Flame on her, then I spam the following macro directly after while I pray intently to RNGesus that UVLS procs:

This means I'll be without my service pet and without my imps when I'm in metamorphosis with dark soul, but imo the gain weighs up for the minimal loss that is. After making that video I've started running that fight as Grimoire of Sacrifice, and my best parse with that particular opener is something around 290-300k. The fight itself is not hard, it's more about being able to game the procs and getting them in the right moments, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. It's just a game of lottery.

Even if you're not going to use that opener though, I'd suggest taking a look at this video made by Sparkuggz of Method. While the fact that he uses a macro for his opener is going to get bashed by the tryhard elitists on this board, I urge you to follow his process of thought. He's conscious about leaving as little chance as possible to when he gets the UVLS proc, and for that reason this opener will in 95% of the cases lead you to enter meta exactly when you get uvls - after having done all of your other GCDs that you'd otherwise have to do while in meta, meaning inefficient use of time.

Gems

I see you're gemming intellect. In this fight in particular (as well as others, such as council, horridon, tortos, dark animus, any add fight), you're going to be so high on fury that mastery might just be better due to the inflated Metamorphosis uptime. Also, since you have at least the 2-set, try reserving most of your soul fires for metamorphosis.

I'm not an expert but two quick things I noticed the first of which is his immolate uptime at an average whopping 50-60% is just plain unacceptable this along with how shaky his RoF uptime is he losing a lot of embers hence a lot of chaos bolts. The next are his trinkets, che ye's is good for destro atleast but shado-pan trinket is garbage, hell there's certain tier 14 trinkets that are better then it, tell him to start doing some raid finding, practically any lfr RPPM trinket is an upgrade for destro and the one that isn't UVLS will let him go demo.

I'm switching from my Mage to my Warlock (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...zrael/advanced) for next tier. Our server has an endless source of Mages and no source of Warlocks, and I'm willing to change up the pace a bit.

Now I'm not looking for an Armory evaluation. I know my gear is far from perfect and possibly my reforging/gems aren't optimal either. I can fix this on my own though, so that's not an issue.

I would like you guys to have a look at some parses and provide me some general feedback as you're much more knowledgeable than I am. This was my first raid as Demo (and only 3rd on my Lock overall since Vanilla).

The warlock in my guild is lagging behind everyone else in damage, whilst his ilvl is slightly below everyone else, it is not awful and he was recently out dps'd by a 520ilvl alt priest in a flex run.

Whilst he doesn't have his meta/cape yet due to switching mains during ToT, his damage is still below what it should be.

Any help would be appreciated as no one in the guild plays a warlock and can correct him or give him any advice.

Haste
His haste rating is at 7646 at the time of writing this, and that is below the most noteworthy breakpoints for either Doom or Shadowflame. I would recommend for him to get 8097 haste at least, so his Doom get 2 more ticks. An alternative he can test out is the 12873 Shadowflame breakpoint as well, although I've seen good results with both breakpoints, so which one he picks is mostly a preference.

Checking through your logs, I can see that he uses Touch of Chaos a lot, much more so than he does Soul Fire while in Metamorphosis. According to your Ra-Den kill, that was done before 5.4 hit, so back then casting Soul Fires from Metamorphosis was basically the way to go. The higher his mastery rating, the higher those Soul Fires are going to hit for from Meta, and since his 2-piece reduces the fury cost by 30%, he doesn't need to worry about the cost of doing so.

Trinkets
He is also using a rather daring trinket combination I'd say. The normal combination would be something like UVLS + Both/Cha-ye (speaking T15 here), or Wush + Both/Cha.ye - the fact that he has both Wush and UVLS opens him up to bad rng just as much as good rng. If stars aligns he'll get a great streak of luck and should do very high dps for an encounter. But stars will have to align.

Gems
Regarding gems it appears he does not know his relative stat weights for his secondary stats. It's many ilvls ago that pure intellect gems were preferrable over secondary ones, especially mastery. Advice him to go hybrids with int and mastery in red sockets, and mastery / hit in blues, and pure mastery in yellow sockets. Some people may argue this boils down to preferance, but I disagree, I did extensive testing myself at the end of T15 in a lot of variations in gems, and that was by a noteable margin the best way for me to go - and me and him were in comparable gear back then.

Legendary Meta
I do notice he lacks the legendary meta gem. For particularily Demonology, this gem is a must-have. Without it, I can totally understand him starting to lag behind as everything is so to speak balanced around them. The interaction with 100% crit dooms and 30% extra haste is too good to pass up, and a big chunk of his actual dps.

I currently do no longer play Demonology, so I'll refrain from giving advice I'm not 100% solid on for the SoO encounters, but I do think the above points are valid.

Hey guys - need some help right now. I think I am pulling the max dps possible in my gear and with my current haste rating, my uptimes are matching those of my fellow warlock guildies, although they both have the meta + cloak. Not sure if because I can't physically reach the haste pt of 9778 in my gear, maybe I should go destro or demo in the meanwhile? At least until I get the meta gem?

Been having some trouble ever since this UVLS nerf...ive been playing affliction ever since TBC and i honestly love it, not much has changed but it seems with these new changes i am constantly in the middle of DPS 10-11th or worse depeneding on the fights. Im in a progression guild were currently stuck 13/14 N.


yesterday i switched to the 9780~ haste cap after looking through countless posts of dps gains in haste cap>mast>haste>crit. I have Tforged N UVLS and recently dropped it for breath and KTT.

I open with the reg opening pot,DS, Haunt, SB+SS, then refresh with trinket procs, then fill with MG. First im noticing with the new corruption changes im running short on shards and find myself casting drain soul alot more then i use to....Also fights with numerous adds (more than 4) i find myself SOCing also more with very little dps gain...

Anyone have any input on shard management/playstyle now with the new changes as without UVLS im finding myself lost and low on the meters
