    Hacked & banned

    Hacked & banned

    Boom...headshot!

I've been hacked for the first time since I been playing wow for so long (started final beta 2004).

I have no clue how my account was hacked, because I haven't played wow since panda release as I quit when hit lvl 90 on my mage. Today I received email:

World of Warcraft -- Account Closure Notification -- Exploitative Activity Found
    Iesūtne
    x
    WoWAccountReviewEU@blizzard.com

    09:26

    ***Notice of Account Closure***

    Account Name: WOW1

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behaviour is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/services/anti-gold/

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at http://eu.blizzard.com/company/legal/index.html. Any recurring subscriptions on this account have been suspended to prevent further monetary charges.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://eu.battle.net/account/suppor...-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://eu.battle.net/account/suppor...ord-reset.html

For any disputes of this action or further information on Exploitive Activity, please visit the Exploitative Activity FAQ and contact page here: http://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/200783

Since Live chat and phone lines are offline on blizzard website, I can't contact them unless I send ticket. My question to MMoChamp is, will I have chance to get my account back?

Only Blizz can reverse a Ban. You might just need to keep calling and at the very least submit a ticket.

They ban your account when they suspect suspicious activity so you can thank Blizzard I guess, They will more than most likely unban the account when they find out you weren't the cause of the banning as you were hacked.
    I don't always hunt things, But when I do, It's because they're things & I'm a Bear.

I'm pretty sure this account isn't from 2004 when it's name is "WOW1", we used to have account names before the battlenet merge, for instance my account is called "BSKALKAM".

Just wait until the hotlines are back up, tickets take way too long. When I've been hacked, I called them and everything was fixed within 20 minutes. Make sure to have your original CD-key when you call them, to speed up the process.

After cat or wotlk we were given a trial account which was linked to our battle.net login. Remember we merged accounts into battle.net which allows you to login to multiple wow accounts using a single battle.net login. Wow1 is a second account. I use it to invite myself to raid groups.

So his battle.net account was probably hacked but they logged into the trial account so he wouldn't notice someone using his characters.

    OP: Get a freaking authenticator.

my hack ticket took two hours. they returned all my gold and some gear that was sold. You should still open a ticket while waiting to get through on the phones.

Just call, they'll get it unbanned and restore din a few hours. Happened to me once, took a whole 6 hours from me figuring out I was banned until i was fully restored.

Hi K1boRG, we'll be happy to look into this for you. Although I'll be out over the weekend, you're welcome to PM me if you continue to have any issues getting through to us via our normal support channels. As was stated here already, please consider one of the free mobile authenticators for the account once we get this resolved.

    WoWAccountReviewEU@blizzard.com doesn't seem like a legit mail.

The message you've pasted doesn't seem real either. Completely different from what I got when my account was locked.

This is what mine looked like.

Due to suspicious activity, the Battle.net account a1n5d9@hotmail.com has been locked. To restore access to this account, please follow these steps:

    Step 1: Secure Your Computer

In the event that your computer has been infected with malicious software such as a keylogger or trojan, simply changing your password may not deter future attacks without first ensuring that your computer is free from these programs. Please visit our Account Security website to learn how to secure your computer from unauthorized access.

Step 2: Secure Your E-mail Account

After you have secured your computer, please create a new password for your e-mail account since it may also be compromised. Be sure to check your e-mail filters and rules and look for any e-mail forwarding rules that you did not create. For more information on securing your e-mail account, visit this Support page.

Step 3: Choose a New Password

You must change your password in order to resume using this Battle.net account. Please click this link to choose a new password:

    https://eu.battle.net/account/suppor...ord-reset.html

*Note that your former password no longer grants access to Battle.net account management, World of Warcraft, or any other login-protected Battle.net account service.

If you still have questions or concerns after following the steps above, feel free to contact Customer Support at http://eu.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleId=22330.

    Sincerely,
    The Battle.net Account Team
