I mean, have you read 1984? Lovecraft? Fallout Equestria? Reading stuff is not something you just do, like you would listen to a song or look at a painting/drawing. It takes time, it cuts much deeper, and if it's done well it can change you immensely. Some don't like that. Some fear that. Some simply don't have the time, energy or motivation to do that.
You know I'm with you on your adventure here. As much as you will allow me. But looking at it realistically might be needed here.
