"Steps down" is another word for "His ass was fired". They obviously were tired of his buisness decisions so the team decided to vote him out.

Hopefully the next boss isn't a greedy son of a bitch.

Is it wrong that I just can't stop smiling?
    Sir Robin, the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
Who had nearly fought the Dragon of Angnor.
Who had almost stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol.
And who had personally wet himself, at the Battle of Badon Hill.

Yes, because your naivity will kill you once.

CEO's are just a scapegoat for the collectively based bad ideas of the shareholders.

He was going to get fired with that much bad press on Sim City(And SWTOR being woefully under-performing). It won't change a damn thing though as long as EA continues to make money.

meh, doubtful we'll see a CEO thats any different. EA is a company out not to make/publish quality games but to make as much money as is possible. anyone that does not do so in what i can only fathom is the most anti-consumer way possible will be either fired or forced to step down. this in my opinion changes nothing.

Well, knowing this certainly explains a lot of things for the past few months! I can only hope for the best and that a new CEO can turn EA around, I often get the feeling that the developers working for EA try to do their best for their games but often get shafted by EA's greedy demands. Saddens me to think how great some of their games could truly of been.

2007 didn't change how they acted. This most recent loss against activision won't either.

Unfortunately EA will still be the same company it is today, you wont notice any difference at all.

    Changes nothing

I don't see any real difference been made to EA as a company. Maybe he was fired (i am going to assume he did not just step down) because they want to try and change the image of the company? And will actually start to employ some more consumer friendly business practices. That's doubtful but you never know

Pretty big news, hope the next one isn't as money hungry.
    That's so juvenile.

And this is why both Origin, and almost every game released by them in the last 3 years have been either plagued with disastrous launches, terrible design choices in name of profit vs quality. I'd be willing to be, had EA kept its fingers out of Bioware's design choices, SW:ToR would likely have been a success.
