Started to do this boss on 25N and I seemed to have trouble picking up the red pools sometimes, I stood on the pools for a few seconds and sometimes I didnt absorb them?

If you absorb one buff from a pool you have to run off and back on it to absorb another charge.

You realize that tanks will outdps your dps classes consistently on this fight if mutated, right?

Depends on your strat. If you have a partner you should probably alternate doing that.
