Our AH (Grim Batol) is bad in a way that ppl undercut too much.
Mostly seen on leg enchants, I try to sell for 1200G (When its 0 items on AH) and someone will come and put up for 500g or similar.

my sever has a problem where one faction has every item (horde), even low lvl greens/blues/rare epics while the other faction has jack shit.(alliance)
Also, we have the problem of one guy running the whole show, so if you want ANYTHING (literally) you have to pay six figures for stuff. At times I have scrolled threw the list and noticed he had every single green and blue item in the AH from lvl 5 to lvl 79 and depending on the stats it was either listed at 200% market price or 400%+ the market price.
You have to remember that there are many servers that are low population. But it wasn't always that way. Many were actually quite high, (on both sides) but as the years have gone on, have lowered considerably. A lot of people don't want to spend money to transfer, which is understandable.
Merging AH's was just an idea. You're right that it would kill the market on a lot of things, but that ends up being the case on high servers anyways. They need to do something eventually though because it's getting pretty bad for so many servers now. And saying "just transfer" isn't the answer. Millions of people don't feel it is worth spending the money, especially when Blizzard should be addressing the core issue directly. "Transferring" is an easy way out and cross realm obviously doesn't address that particular problem.
Some of the stories here are quite depressing.
On Draenor EU our AH is full of basically everything, and you can always go to the AH and just "know" that it will be there for you.
Cross-realm AH is certainly going to happen.
On Silver Hand Horde side (which is the low-pop side of a medium-pop old-skool RP server) the AH has around 10k items. That's not enough for decent liquidity and prices are still inflated. I feel for any realm that has to put up with an even smaller AH.
When X-realm AH does happen it will put a crimp in the fun of some of us AH goblins, but I think the clever folks will continue to prosper.
Wasn't saying transfer. I was saying go to a different realm. Leveling is *so* quick now, you can level any character pretty easily in a week. If you start with a dk, you start at level 55. If you go monk, you get an automatic experience boost daily. No reason to stay on a dead server.
