    Best 7870 GHZ Brand

Hey guys. I am planning on upgrading another machine of mine with a 7870 ghz edition video card.

I have basically narrowed down my search between 3 cards.

GIGABYTE GV-R787OC-2GD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125418

XFX Double D FX-787A-CDFC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150605

HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161404

I am really torn at the moment on which card I would prefer. The XFX would like nice in my case, as I prefer that look. '

This card will be used for heavy gaming on a 1680x1050 display with (hopefully) ultra settings with a AMD Phenom II x4 970 @ 3.5 ghz.

Which one should I pick up? I do plan to possibly crossfire them later for more performance.

i find the lack of a sapphire card to be a concern.
also wth why can't i find the 7870 XT on newegg anymore? (this one is the same just different naming ; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...irtualParent=1'

Why is a single fan solution better than a 2-3 fan solution? Also I am going to want to crossfire these later and they seem to be vacant on Newegg, so not sure this XT version is the best idea.

    http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?...T-7870XT2&c=CJ ?

Also no point paying extra for a GHz card when you easily can overclock them yourself.
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

if plans for CF single fan (blower type) is better for cooling vs multiple fans just pushing hot air into your case.
XT /TE is just the name for a better revision of the chip used which yield better performance compared to other 7870's (even Ghz iirc)

    It's really bad idea.

    1) more heat and noise
    2) poor performance in games that don't support CF vs single better card
    3) AMD drivers have still big problems with CF frame lag (there are beta versions, but no generic fix yet)
    4) resale value of midrange cards is zero in few years, but if you'd get single 7950 it will retain some of it's value
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

CF'ing 7870's with an aftermarkt cooler is fine and nothing to worry about, really. Heat you'll barely notice it except if your case has poor airflow. Had a 6970 & 6950 in CF and I haven't noticed more noise tbh, it just depends of the fan profile you have and especially the space between the cards but noticed the exhausted fans in the case blowing a lot of more heat which is normal..

Coolers like DC2 are still blowing some heat off from the back so it isn't fully dumping everything in the case.

For the price of some 7870GHZ cards you can actually get a 7870XT which is like 10% better.
