i don't like how cut-off the map looks on several sides.
i can see why they would cut off a lot of africa and russia, as they did in most titles, since they have very large regions that are just annoying to manage due to how long it takes to get from one city to another, and don't have any strategical or ecological importance anyway.

but i'd kinda like to be able to conquer scandinavia as one of the 'barbarians', and if that map is correct, it's not even possible to use fleets anywhere north of southern 'england' or south/east of syria o.O a good half or third of the coastlines on that map seem to be entirely inaccessible by ship. it makes sense to limit ship movement to near-cost-areas due to ships at that time not being able to traverse high seas, but can i please land an invasion force somewhere in ireland/scotland/denmark if i want to? :[

I'm always very doubtful when it comes to any claims about AI. I, usually, later find any such claims, or even implications, to have been grossly exaggerated.

They've done that in the past with nearly all of TW releases and they will do so again, it's extremely common practice.

agreed. but at least they seem to be trying to fix most issues i've had with the ai.
i kinda doubt the enhanced and expanded siege/city ai will work well though, at least at release..

They've been fixing AI for 13 years now ever since it's only functional iteration in Shogun was released. I have no doubts it will suck just as much as it has always.

The only AI-related improvement I really care about, is improved pathfinding. Even Shogun 2, with its pretty lite siege battles, had lots of pretty big pathfinding issues in tight areas and (especially) on the battlements. It wasn't as bad as the nightmare that was medieval 2's siege pathfinding (I lost count of the number of battles I won because the AI got most of their army stuck in stupid locations or infinite loops, or what have you), but rome 2 will presumably bring back proper walls and such for the sieges, so I really hope they work on that.

but at least many problems change from title to title! xD
it might not be a better ai, but at least it will make exciting new mistakes!

agreed, although i guess that technically doesn't really count as ai, or at least not as tactical one.
but yeah, the problems where units even under your own command don't properly do what they're told certainly have bigger potential to be game/immersion breakers than obvious tactical or strategical mistakes, not to mention they even affect multiplayer battles.

As a Carthage fan in the first RTW? That video was awesome! Do hope they change the start screen though so if you choose a different faction family your character and the background changes. Looked weird to have a Carthaginian with the Coliseum in the background.
