So my PC Rig is ~2 years old now and I think it's time to upgrade some hardware. I think the first thing, and best thing, to upgrade first would be the graphics card in my situation. Though, I can't seem to convince myself to actually go through with it.
My PC Specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK P6T SE
RAM: Crucial Ballistix DDR3 PC3-10700H (667 MHz) 2GB (x3)
Graphics: Radeon HD 5830 1GB GDDR5
Hard Drive(s): OCZ-Vertex4 128GB SSD
WD Black 500GB
WD Blue 1TB
that is a pretty solid upgrade.
however what PSU do you currently have ?
also wow would also see a significant performance boost from overclocking the cpu. (if you mobo supports it and would only take $+-20 aftermarket cooler to run it higher and safe temps)
If that is good enough to deal with the overclocking of the cpu, how would I go about doing it? Pretty much the only thing I am not knowledgeable about is the process of overclocking and the dos/don'ts
PSU is plenty.
not sure how good that cooler is but with a minor voltage bump it shouldn't be much of an issue. (just monitor and if too high for your liking tune down the overclock or upgrade the cooler perhaps) http://www.overclock.net/t/538439/gu...-930-to-4-0ghz (should help you)
