Babylon 5 - MMOG that almost was, and other stuff.

Not sure what forum to put this on, so off topic seems the most logical.

On the off chance anyone might find this of interest (and don’t already know about it).
Seems that ‘universe online’ was originally going to be set in the Babylon 5 ‘verse, and Joe Straczynski (the guy who wrote most of the epsiodes of the show, and a big WoW fan) was going to be the games main writer as well..

There’s also a ton of artwork – and an interview with one of the devs – for the old abandoned Sierra game, ‘Into The fire’.

The whole site is full of stuff like that, with most of it being some very frank and revealing interviews with a lot of the FX artists who worked on the show, along with a fair bit of previously unreleased production concept art as well.



3D World did a small article on it last year as the whole thing is downloadable as well.

I remember reading about the B5 game in PC Gamer back in the day when it was still in development. I was pretty stoked. I don't remember much about the article, but I do remember it had an awesome picture of a Starfury. I really wanted to fly one of those.

Kind of a shame, though personally I'd prefer it to be a story driven space sim or RPG rather than an MMO.

Mongoose were wanting to do more of a story based PC based game as well - rather than a shooter type thing. Came to nothing though.
