    THE BROTHER MOONS ARE AWAKE

    Dead Space, anyone?

But yea, the Moons do seem to have some sort of magical importance at least. Go in there and kill off a corrupted Elune? Eh, no? At least it'd be an excuse to go to the moon. And counting we'd land at least a couple 25 man raids we can always say our WoW heroes already beat our IRL selves technologically!

Betting that Algalon's got a big facility up there where he arrived before going to Ulduar. An 'observatory' as it were.

If not Algalon, then some kind of Titan watcher.

Titan city on the moon, yeah!

The prospect of something being on the moon and us going there is making me think of Phantasy Star III.

There are theories that "Azeroth" the planet is actually a container/cage/prison for something horrible, and the entire reason the Titan's allowed/made things that could become so powerful (Heroes) and basically 'train them up' using things like the Old Gods, etc, is to be able to possibly fight whatever is contained within. So it isn't ENTIRELY crazy to think that the moons might be satellite facilities of some kind.

No, Unicron is not inside Azeroth's moon.

    you never know with moons

Even crazier theory: "Elune" is really the name of an Orbital Defense Grid (E.L.U.N.E.) built by the Titans that exists on the surface of the Moon.

The systems CPU core designated an interactive interface hologram that took the presence of a Goddess which taught Malfurion and the first Druids how to manipulate Nature. Seeing balence restored and its immediate purpose complete it resumed its primary objective of observing and safeguarding the progress of life on Azeroth.

Your beloved Goddess of Nature is just a Giant Computer, MUHAhahahahah. The Irony is delicious.

It's a delightful twist on the overall theme - what's the opposite of being underground?

So Druid offensive magic is just sending requests to the ODG? Reminds me of the Sacred class Seraphim...

I've always liked to pretend moonfire/starfire were orbital bombardment lasers.

And since we're already in the realm of tinfoil hats, it should probably be noted that Wildkin have a strong connection with the moon (some are even able to use moonfire, etc) and they all wear metal disks. The preferred information storage format of the Titans.

The moons are fake, as is the whole sky around Azeroth. The planet is actually floating inside a larger titan station and one day we will find that out with a goblin rocket crashing into the sky and then we find out something has been up there watching us and guiding things the whole time. or not, who knows.

Except that Malfurion learned to be a druid from cenarius and druidism has nothing in essence to do with the moon other than a couple spells created in wow.

Wow druids are about the balance of nature Night elf priests/priestesses are really the only thing moon related and thats due to the origin of the lore behind their patron deity.

One moon is real. However, the second one is fake, which we will discover in the next expansion. The ongoing Horde-Alliance war will trigger an ancient titan artifact, which will send a beam up to this moon. The moon will then drop its cloak and reveal itself as a giant death-star like device which the titans created as a failsafe in case their experiment with the planet's life failed. Having been triggered, the device now channels a destructive energy beam to the planet's surface, threatening to break the entire planet apart.

Fires break out planetwide. Earthquakes break up the surface. Tsunamis hit the coast. Destruction of the world is imminent. Gallywix creates a space transport just large enough for a single person so he can escape the planet, but is betrayed by his associates. The Alliance takes the ship and Varian chooses to pilot it into the beam and cause the titan moon device to implode, teleporting out with his newfound mage powers just before the detonation.

However, Garrosh has not only survived the siege of Orgrimmar but now uses the situation to eliminate Varian and cause chaos. He hacks the transport and prevents Varian from teleporting out. The transport goes into the moon device's beam at its origin and causes a massive implosion that destroys it, Independence-Day style, and kills Varian in the process. Debris hurtles out onto Azeroth, bombarding every corner. And the ensuing titanic radiation which engulfs the planet leads to severe mutation in many people, causing them to take biomechanical traits and resulting in the new Tinker class. And Varian gets resurrected as well so he can lead the fight against an even more maniacal Garrosh.

This is 100% what happens, and not at all the plot of Beast Wars.
