Its a hundred dollars more than the ps4, that doesnt constitute the earth. Its funny how when the wii made motion controlls the primary mode of controller on the wii when it came up and it was revolutionary but this is a gimick? Mind you i dont like any of the handheld motion controls and at least the xboxs motion shit doesnt require you to hold some glowing orb dildo or swing a remote around.

At least the glowing orb dildo worked for the most part, even if nobody bought them.

I think motion control can be cool, but I've yet to see anything other than a dancing/family game actually work on Kinect. All the "core" games they've launched have bombed because they flat out haven't worked well enough.

If they can fix those problems (they seem to be fixing them) then maybe Kinect 2.0 can turn into an actual control device for games. That being said, I still don't really find it would affect gameplay all that much more than holding a glowing dildo orb or a wiimote unless they can reliably get finger gestures to work. And even then, you're still missing out on all the buddons that the glowing dildo orb and wiimote have.

The PS4 also has 50% more GPU power, in addition to an easier to utilize memory architecture. So it's not just about the $100.

As for the Wii and motion control ... initially everyone thought it was revolutionary, then they realise it doesn't really work that well - lag, inaccuracy ... etc. that it was nothing more than a gimmick.

No the wii was a gimick too, Ive said it many times in this thread, but it doesn't stop it being revolutionary in the gaming industry.

The wii controller was revolutionary??? It was always a gimmick and everyone knew it, which is why nobody ever played it for anything more than Wii-sports that one time.
It's like crossing an intersection. There's shit going on all over the place and you don't panic and act like an idiot then do you?

Id be interested to see this 50% gpu power that the ps4 has, I did a little research and couldnt find anywhere that it said that.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_One

In fact there were some rumors earlyer that the hardware on the xbox that was shown at e3 will be getting a boost before its released.

As for the wii comment i never said i thought it was anything more than a gimick, i just thought it was funny that everyone on all the forums i visisted hailed the wii as the change to gaming that was needed and its motion controles would pave the way to the future.

They couldnt even get the firmware patched, so you still have to go online once to get the patch that disables their initial restrictions.
Its next to impossible to do something on the hardware side this late in the production cycle.

Well, nothing wrong with that, it was revolutionary and it is has paved the way for the kinect and move, gaming changed a lot because of the Wii's success. Ugh back on the wii topic again.

Do a search of "TFLOPS" in your links. Also it's plain nuts MS is reserving 3GB of the memory for their entertainment junk - leaving only 5GB for games - while Sony is rumored to be only reserving 1GB for the OS; not exactly far fetched since Sony didn't go nuts with the non-gaming stuff.

Overall the Xbone is a fraction of a machine that the PS4 is while being $100 more expensive.

As for the Wii stuff, that's the Nintendo Defense Force for you. /shrug

The controller will also be $10 ($30 with play and charge kit) more expensive. 1 controller with play and charge for $100.

The PS4 has 18 compute units compared to the 12 on the Xbone - MS sacrificed the die space for 32 MB of ESRAM to compensate for the weaksauce DDR3 RAM they are using.

MS is also sacrificing 3GB of RAM for their 3 OSs compared to the PS4's one.

Theoretical or not, it is reality. The PS4 has more available memory for games and a more powerful GPU. Both the PS4 and Xbone use the same CPU/GPU combo from AMD except that the PS4's has 6 more compute units giving it edge graphically. They are directly comparable unlike past generations.

The fact that's it's $100 cheaper ... I don't see what there to really debate about.

Last I remember, their architecture interfaces differently, so there's still some apples and oranges going on. Regardless, everything is still going to come down to what people put into it. Both systems are impressive pieces of canvas. It's now up to the game developers to decide to paint a masterpiece, or throw shit at it and call it abstract. Time's the only thing that will prove that out.

They are more directly compare than past consoles, that's for sure.

The only difference I know of is the memory configuration of which I believe Sony's is easier to use. That and more processing power on the PS4's GPU.

An Xbox One Dev recently stated that it costs as much to produce Kinects as it does the console itself, that's a problem for something that a lot of people, and I dare say most, don't even want. If they dumped the Kinect they could probably come in even lower than the PS4, or beef up their hardware.

You shouldn't have to do that the Kinect should be a choice not something forced on you and now you got to pay 100$ more compared to the Ps4 just because Microsoft forced this item on you.

To be honest those prices aren't set in stone yet. Just like the next gen games are 70 euro instead of 60 euro on that website while they were confirmed to be $60.

You should read that the article is saying that ps4 got 5.5gb for games and around 2.5/3.5gb for os(4.5GB guaranteed, 1GB of "flexible memory"). Don't know if it is true yet because sony haven't confirmed it but we will see. Also to bring it back OT some news about kinect features from a xbox one dev: http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comm...seen_that_are/

    Thanks for update.

Odd. Wonder what Sony is doing with all that space ...

Looks like thats wrong. Looks like the ps3 reserves more than the xbox.
