A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones was published in like 1997, not 2000. Also, its almost assuredly no accident that the title exists as-is because WoW is filled with tons of ASoIaF references and people have been reading and rereading these books for almost 20 years now. The idea that there was no one on the WoW staff who read ASoIaF and "Kingslayer" as a title is just happy coincidence is pretty ludicrous considering almost anyone who was in to fantasy literature read Martin's stuff.
Haha this is one of the worst threads I have seen in a while, ty for the laugh OP.
Its definitely not an easter egg in either shows. The titles just make sense in both cases.
I think the essential difference between GoT and WoW in using the title is that in GoT it is not a desirable one. Simply put: anyone who uses it uses it with dishonour and a moral disgust. Jamie does not like having it (although it has a nice ring to it).
In WoW the title is one of triumph and completing an incredibly difficult task. It is a desired title and one that people like to have on themselves.

The show is also pretty awesome.
Remember, the Book doesn't have screen time. It isn't limited to fitting in enough story in a series or 1 hour TV slot. I've not read the books, but I'm loving the T.V. show and it is just amazing. Having read a few spoilers, and comparisons, I can see why the story doesn't seem as good as the Books, but they've got to do a lot more in a shorter amount of time, while also keeping certain stories alive and exciting.
On a side note, go to BattleNet and type in the name Jaime. I can GUARANTEE that most of the warriors with that name will have the title on.

Part of the reason is that Battlegrounds are like ducks.
I'm pretty sure that's no easter egg. But Arthas does look a lot like Jaime from the tv adaptation.
Correct me if im wrong, but if you slay a king, you are, a kingslayer? Not only in GoT Land.
Just because IMDB rank it highly doesn't mean everyone will like it. Opinions are just that. Opinions.
While this is true, many forget that outside of literature, the term regicide is pretty rare. Sure they could have used it, but then half the player base probably wouldn't know what the word or title even meant. Kingslayer however is basic and does exactly what it says on the tin.
Doubt it. I do recall an event boss in Rift that said "in life I was called kingslayer" which I think may have been (or else it was a jab at Wrath).
Interesting observation though.
I don't see why it wouldn't be when it's no secret that a very large portion of the game involves references to various other games/movies/novels and the like. Excessively so at times!
