My strange (but happy) return to GW2 story.

So I bought GW2 on launch day and greatly enjoyed it for about a month. I ended up taking a break as I'd just changed hours at work, had gotten a new computer, and other games had nabbed my interest(ones I had been unable to play very will with the old computer). When I stopped playing my Necro(my main) was somewhere in the 40s, I had very little gold, and no gems.

Yesterday I decided to get the game installed again and start playing. To my surprise my password no longer worked. I jumped a few hoops to get the account back and found the following.

My Necro was now 77, I had a ton of gold, and about 2000 gems.

I assume I was hacked at some point during my absence, but it actually ended up working to my advantage?! So now I decide what to spend these "gifted" gems on....

Anyhow, I'm quite happy with my return to the game, so thank you mr. hacker, for not deleting all my stuff and apparently using my character as a mule.

Anyone else have any delightful stories like this?

(P.S what should I spend my gems on?! Thinking of loading up on pets!)
(P.P.S I already made sure my new password was very hard to figure out, changed my email account's credentials, and verified no malware on the system)

You are very lucky that the account was not closed. Many times people have had trouble re-opening their hacked accounts. Maybe that was a problem early on.

I'd take a look at the backpacks if I were you. They are fun and quirky. Also, if you haven't bought bag slots or character slots, those are always going to be great purchases.

Those gems dont actually alst too long on the store, personally I would go for the dance pack, thats a lot of fun.

Dancepack is easily the best thing they ever put in the gemstore I wish they come out with volume 2 soon.

@OP sounds like the hacker sold your account to someone who was just using it to play casually on, good you got it back though and grats on the bonuses.

ive had something similiar happen to my WoW account where i ended up going from 20k gold to 50k gold guess they were in the middle of transfering gold

I started playing about six months ago, played for about a month and got a necro to level 35 before getting bored and quitting the game. I just decided to start again yesterday and rerolled a ranger, level 11 in the first day and having a blast. I didn't realize then that necro just wasn't for me, I just thought the game was pretty dull before but it feels like a whole different game after switching classes. Can't wait to level more.

Didnt use my 2nd acc for ages and didnt lose it.
Gratz on being lucky with a surprise on recovery. Happened to one of my friends as well (he gained 100g on this).

id convert it all to gold and use it towards a legendary. also dyes, unidentified from the TP or dye packs whichever is cheaper. i love dyes
