I quite like the way my Shaman and Pally look. More polygons, a more articulate skeleton and a fix for the shoulders would be the only things I'd want for them.

I fear for tauren mostly, the male tauren currently have a nice mixture of cute/smooth and old/worn faces and female tauren don't look at all like bimbos (Their body proportions are funnily enough the most realistic in the game). If female worgen are anything to go by I actually am very concerned how female tauren will come out.

They should do one one model where they just improve upon the old options, so people afraid of change can take those. Then they should have some new creative models as an option for everyone else.

Unlikely. Lexy, Sylvanas, and Ysera share recolors of a customized blood elf base with custom heads and shoulderpads for each character. Odds are they'll end up designed more like Tyrande and Illidan's Well of Eternity models, with an increased poly count to smooth out the edges (Illidan and Tyrande atm only use high-res skins over the old base and skeleton).

As for which one could go wrong, I'm worried about the tauren given how badly they samefaced female pandaren (hell, female tauren only have like four faces as-is), I'm worried that female humans will lose the sturdy torso and legs (which actually look like someone who runs around killing shit five times bigger than them for a living would look), and I'm doubly worried that Blizzard is going to pull a Lineage on the female dwarves for the sake of making them more appealing to all the gamers who've joked about female dwarves being fat and/or not existing since Vanilla.

UPDATED: I reuploaded the pictures on IMGUR: they should no longer give the "access denied" message.

I honestly really hope Blizzard follows Glowei's art as an example when they make the designs of the new models.

Many of you might know Glowei as 'that magnificent bastard that makes beautiful WoW art', well.. most will know of his art, but not the name "Glowei" or Wei Wang.

I feel that if they go with his designs, things will be pretty damn all right, and they have done so. He was the artist behind the battle mosaic, which was pretty much where they took Vol'jin's design from, and even the Worgen female alpha model pretty much looks like the art he did of the worgen female.

Some examples of his art, some of which might seem familiar:

Blizzard has a history of not doing things in half-measures or providing compromises. They will provide one solution and one solution only; but you can bet you're ass they'll try to make as many people as possible happy with them (unless they screw up and listen to the vocal minorities as with Worgen Females)

If they draenei males were another half foot taller without getting any wider, that would fix a lot.

That and they need some slightly larger heads...and shoulder armor needs to not sit so wide on their bodies.

Given that they specifically cited female worgen when refusing to de-clonestamp female pandaren faces, and the backlash from that during beta, odds are they'll take feedback into account while testing the new models but not to the extent of a total redesign a la female worgen (who got like a month and a half of testing, and it shows).

y money is on Blizzard screwing up Night Elf female. It always seems like there is a vocal portion of the community that think the current model is too "manly" and want their proportions to be closer to your stereotypical Tolkien elves, despite the fact that they were envisioned as a race of savage amazons. I expect Blizz will take that feedback to heart and just churn out another pretty elf race.
I Agree with these words. If they would change night elves to the blood elf model it would just be tasteless...no difference, except that we still purple and they are shiny :P.
Please, i think we night elves are ok how we are. we still show some curves and are beautiful in their own way. Not to mention i like to be taller than almost every other class :P. ( maybe not tauren)

I'm interested in what the forsaken outcome would look like.
I wonder if they are scrapping the whole, bones sticking out from your armor thing.
    Time can only tell.

One thing they need to fix with the Draieneiaiaier males is their legs. You have this MASSIVE refrigerator of a body topping out these tiny little pin legs and dinky little hooves. Their legs should be thicker and hooves a fair bit bigger. Lets hope with the female Tauren we don't get the rabid Chiwawa-seals of the Worgen Females....

I think it is alarming just reading this thread though how many people have issues with existing Human, Night Elf models etc. The only problematic models are Blood Elves since they are nothing like their Warcraft 3 counterparts, see Sorceress and Priests and Blood Mage and Spell Breaker and Blood Elf Lieutenant etc.

Every other model properly represents Warcraft atmosphere, even if some are rather low polygon, and women look like real women.

I think it's also disturbing how many people think that women should be represented in games as thin, weakly things. Real women are the chicks from the Dove commercials, not the ladies you see walking at fashion shows who look as if they're about to die from malnutrition.

    Yarathir:
Most of those female models are simply way too skinny. In all honesty, how are some of them supposed to bear through childbirth with practically nonexistent hips?

I want Fem Worgen to go back to the Alpha version, but I don't even know if the Cata races are getting updated at all, and even if they are I doubt it will happen, sadly.

I really hope they don't screw up Fem Space Goat, but I don't think they will either. The look and proportions are pretty much alright as-is, they just need smoothed out.

I'm worried for Fem Tauren, but thankfully I only have one, so even if it is terrible, little to no effect for me. Hopefully they will not go the direction of Worgen, though (You want pixely neckmane? You got it!)

The other main races I use are Fem Troll (as long as they keep a non-haggard face option that will be ok I think), Fem Human (can only get better), and Fem NE (there is a little potential for stuff to go wrong with the skeleton/body structure, but I think they will do alright). I have been considering a Male Space Goat, and I think that revamp will be OK.

Honestly, my biggest concern over the model revamps is them actually happening any time soon. I understand Blizz not giving teasers, but that also puts it off into the land of "Soon (tm)". I don't want this to be a "three expacs down the road" thing.

I think if any will go wrong it will be the humans. They are by far the hardest race to get right.

And I like the current chunky female model. You don't? Fine, the blood elves await you.
I never said the current night elf model is chunky? I don't think you really read through what I was saying in regards to other posts. And you are suggesting extremes; just because I suggested that I would like more of a lithe look to night elves while still being athletic/powerful looking, doesn't mean I want the current blood elf model for night elves. I don't even like the current blood elf model so I would never suggest that.

I prefer WoW's current dimorphism (def still 'perky/pretty/thin' for most of the females, but to a lesser degree) to that, and I think IF they're going to mess with the female structure, it would be better to go slightly the more realistic direction. The best bet is probably just to keep it as-is, even if it's not perfect, though. Stays truer to the current models.

I don't think it's half as bad as you make it seem, but then again, that's not the reason why I linked that Glowei art. :P
