    [TV] Hannibal

Anyone watching this series? I'm about 6 episodes in and kinda digging it so far.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2243973

It's not something you can really marathon watch though. It's kinda dark and depressing. Really good writing and acting though. Surprising for a network television show.

Season 1 just finished up and it's been renewed for a second season so it's a good time to give it a try.

    Thoughts?

I hadn't watched a crime drama in a long time, so it really surprised me the level of gore they were able to get away with.

My only quibble with the show is that the guy playing Hannibal is a little hard to understand sometimes. I rarely have a problem with accents, but it's like he mumbles his lines every once in a while.

Haha. My friend recommended it to me and I said I'd give the first episode a watch while I had my dinner that evening... He was a bit taken aback that I could eat through it

On-topic... I think it's quite well done. Really enjoying it so far! I think I'm at episode 7.

Aside from the Red Wedding episode, Hannibal was overall the best tv I've watched this year. Just a really great show on all counts. Great acting, writing, loved the dark mood/tone...it doesn't feel like a network show. Like it should be on AMC or HBO. Good stuff.

The guy is the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen.. We danes have a tendency to mumble out our Words Love the show!!

I love this show, watched the whole season in a couple of days. I think it's really great and innovative, only thing that annoys me quite a bit is Mads Mikkelsen's accent. I'm danish, and I generally find most danish people's accent very cringe-worthy.

Great show all around. Mads is definitely nailing his role. Very dark and gritty.

really ? i found the red wedding entirely underwhelming, whereas Hannibal had me on the edge of my seat through each episode.

I'm with you on Hannibal but I was overwhelmed by the Red Wedding. Mouth hanging open, in shock, watched it again the next day, started crying. Yeah.

    Good, traumatizing times.

Really LOVE this show and we are getting a season 2 next year!

Finished season one after watching episodes 3 to 13 in 2 days and easily my favourite show atm, except from the Walking Dead. The story is just so well written and the cast is perfect. Mads is just such a good person to play Hannibal and he shows why in the show. As for Will Graham I am really grabbed by his story because it is so interesting how he thinks and sees things in a way that nobody else can.

The season finale was such a cliff hanger though and I can't want to see how it turns out. Can't really say much more without spoiling it for others. Creepiest episode imo is the one with the angels.

This show was the sleeper hit of this year. My favorite new show by far I really love the acting and although Mads Mikkelsons accent can be hard to understand he is absolutely superb as Hannibal.

I can't help but feel that the Tv series is completely seperate from the movies. I thought it was supposed to be an Prequal, but í've watched the entire season, and can't help but feel that this can't possibly run into Silence of the Lambs.

Well, Hannibal was already my favorite show on TV until season 2 started. Now 2 episodes in, and somehow it seems to have gotten so much better...

Spoilers only if you haven't seen season 1:

Knowing how the season ends (Hannibal exposed/Will Graham vindicated) has only made the show more interesting as we get to see the pieces fall into place. If anything the show has gotten even darker, more surreal and intense as the Hannibal and Graham are now actively maneuvering against one another. Comparisons to shows like "Twin Peaks" are well earned.

And the gore... damn. I seriously haven't had to look away from a screen in years but the first minute episode 2 (2nd season) had me cringing in ways a lot of horror movies derisively described as "torture porn" could not. I mean... ouch! That this is airing on NBC after Grimm has got me scratching my head as much as learning that the movie Poltergeist was rated PG.

More people need to watch this. Season 1 is available on Amazon Prime and season 2 is showing on Hulu and on the NBC web site. Come on folks, catch up.

FYI- the bit about how the season ends isn't a spoiler. This clip shows the first 3 minutes of Season 2, minus the 12 weeks earlier text we see just afterwards.

Marathon watched season 1, 3 weeks ago. Very good show..

As a Dane I have always hated the danish accent when speaking English and Mads has always been one of the worst, but on this show it actually works.

Read The Red Dragon (the first book)... Jack Crawford is also in Silence.
