Latest GFX card drivers, latest Java 7 (64-bit). Make sure LWJGL is up to date too.

what do you run on 64 bit or 86 bit. well if you run on 64 bit then there are options for you to run smoother I suggest you turn of clouds and make your render distance shorter that's what helps me become less laggy.
