Easy question, who is your favorite video game protagonist you have played with over the years ?
Personally i have 2 favorites!
1st one is Billy Blaze from the Commander Keen Dos video games!
2nd one is Claude, The main character from Gta 3.

Roxas... i don't like Sora that much, but well... if there's no Sora... there's no Roxas :P
Probably Abe from the Oddworld saga
Followed maybe by Guybrush Threepwood and Raziel from Legacy of Kain
Btw, awesome choice with Billy Blaze, OP!
Geralt of Rivia.
Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann
This guy of course. He's my kind of character: can jump, can shoot, can drive, smart and he doesn't talk! God, how I hate this tendency to give voice to main characters nowadays. But Gordon Freeman? He doesn't need that. He does shit silently and perfectly.
1A: John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
1B: Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin's Creed)
Must be Mortis from Disciples 2, we march in the name of the dark mistress, her wrath and vengance shall be the end of all
Time is on our side
Brutal Gladiator Enhancement Shaman *rawr*
I actually find for me that my favorite/most memorable video game characters are mostly always the villains/anti-heroes as well as more obscure side characters. If we are talking purely good guy, main character style characters then I guess these would be some of mine:
-Kirby (I just think Kirby is really bad ass for some reason)
-Dirk the Daring (Dragon's Lair)
-Banjo (Banjo-Kazzoie) (probably the most laid back, mellow, likeable game character for me)
-Classic Sonic (very much dislike Modern Sonic starting in Adventure 1, the newer style of him seems to be little less "EXTREME!" at least)
-MegaMan (original series version)
-Manny (Grim Fandago)
-Sparkster (Rocket Knight Adventures)
-Lance (Brain Dead 13)
-EarthWorm Jim
-Bayonetta
-Larry Laffer (Leisure Suit Larry)
-Raz (Psychonauts)
-Shantae (from game of same name)
-Cortez (TimeSplitters)
-Master Higgins (Adventure Island)
-Ardy (Ardy Lightfoot)
-Duke Nukem
-Abe (and Munch and the Stranger from the Oddworld series)
-Captain Commando
-Koala Lumpar (Journey to the Edge)
-John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
-Mike Jones (StarTropics)
-Headdy (Dynamite Headdy)
-Marina (Mischief Makers)
-Bernard (Day of the Tentacle)
-Gex
-Boogerman (from game of same name)
-Eddie (Brutal Legend)
-Neptune (Hyperdimension Neptunia) (at first I thought she was annoying, but after three games she grew on me)
As you can probably tell I am more partial to the more cartoony/eccentric characters then more "realistic" ones. I left Wario off the list since I dont really consider him a "good guy", but he would probably be my favorite of the bunch.
I am actually not really a fan of the silent humanish protagonist in games, I like finding out more about the character I am playing as rather then "filling the shoes" of that person that most silent characters seem to going for, even if its just a personality or attitude of a character that doesn't speak that gets me attached to them, its the main reason I can enjoy a character like Sparkster more then guys like Ness or Link, even thought I love their series.

Kurt Hectic.
(mdk)
Don't sweat the details!!!
I have to agree with Billy Blaze actually, some good memories. Does Horny from the Dungeon Keeper games count as a protagonist? I always liked him.
April Ryan and Zoë Castillo from The Longest Journey Saga. I can't really pick one over the other.
Gex
Tybalt (GW2) I cried a bit when he sacrificed
Feena (Grandia), her adventure spirit is really likable.
Wander, from Shadow of the Colossus.
Even though he was never really characterised, I can't help but feel sorry for him in the end, and regret for helping him.
Second favourite would have to be Jack from Bioshock, for a similar reason.
Lara Croft (pre-reboot)
"Being bad never felt so good!"
Yuri Hyuga from Shadow Hearts.
damnit Zael! you beat me to it
but yeah Yuri "Godslayer" Hyuuga, what a legend.
Honorable mentions to:
John Marsten - Making Cowboys even cooler.
Ezio Auditore di Firenze - we didn't know how good we had it, until we didn't anymore...
my Duelist, Count Anthony DeBaumont III, in Riddle of Steel, if PnP counts .
Miyamoto Musashi - he's also my favourite historical figure .
and a few more, but they're the top ones.
