Overall PC market shrinking, but PC gaming hardware growing

So while the mass market appeal of home desktops and laptops may not be what it used to, the silver lining might be that it becomes increasingly profitable to cater more to the gaming niche.

Probably has something to do with smart phones and ipads, for a lot of people they do the job of what their PC's did.
Probably running on a Pentium 4

Its not a lava lamp, its a water cooling system with red water inside for the visual effect ( some people have cases with windows on them ). Still keeps hardware at good temps but is a lot more silent then air cooling. Its more expensive but not too uncommon in more high end rigs.

Yeah, I'm confident that there'll always be a market for PC gaming.

by PC market, you mean hardware not software right ?

As mentioned, could be an effect of the boom of tablet or is it that macs are gaining some market?

That's logical. The average Joe out there just reads mails, pirates stuff, watches videos and uses social media anyway. You don't need a real computer for that kind of stuff nowadays. Tablets, smartphones, notebooks etc. are capable of that. The only people who need performance hardware are gamers and people who do professional work on the computer - 3D artists, musicians, film people and stuff.

ATM I'm reading mail, watching videos and using social media. The tablet didn't cut it so I decided to upgrade my personal rig.
