I've had the same computer for quite some time and it was definitely time for an upgrade.... however I am clueless when it comes to computers.
I went down to the local computer store and a guy there recommended the following for me:
Case: Antec Performance One P280 Case
CPU: Intel i5-4670K 3.40 GHZ / 6MB Cache
Motherboard: Asus Z87-PLUS w/ dual ddr3 1600
RAM: Kingston HyperX 16 GB ddr3-1600 Mhz CL10 Dual Channel (2x8)
DVD: LG SuperMulti 24x
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional x64
Power Supply: Antec High Current Pro 750W
Video Card: MSI N770 Twin Frozr GAMING Geforce GTX 770 2GB PCI-E
Hard Drive: Seagate 3TB Barracuda 7200 rpm SATA III w/ 64 MB Cache
Solid State Drive: Intel 335 Series SATA III 240 GB
The company will be setting everything up for me and it will cost, with taxes, $1850 CDN.
I want to be able to play a variety of games and for the computer to last at least 3-5 years.
You're basically paying CA$300 for the service, which is okay. The partslist above will be fantastic, if you have a friend ready to build it. And even if you don't, so long as you're careful and follow the idiot-proof guides, you'll save a fair chunk of change.
I'm not too concerned with the price to be honest as long as it was under $2,000 and it wasn't a complete ripoff.
I believe the total assembly cost and setup is only $70.00 so I guess I'm paying a bit more for the parts.
The one thing I keep seeing is that people are using heatsinks (I think) in their system for extra cooling but the guy told me it was not necessary. Is this true? Or should I be getting one anyways.
