Your 1st WOW!!! moment in WoW?

OK, I have been playing over 8 years, and I will never forget the moment in the game when I first went wow!!!

My first character was a NELF Hunter ( ok it seemed really cool back then to me, not so much now, LOL )...... and I don't remember exactly how I got to Menethil Harbor, but I had a buddy waiting there who escorted me to Ironforge so I wouldn't die. I recall being way too low to safely traverse the Wetlands.... As I walking along all I could think was "Damn this game is HUGE! It's been like 15 solid minutes of walking and I still am not at Ironforge." Not that I knew where IF was anyway, but it seemed like way too long of a walk. In fact, while walking, I almost decided to quit WoW because I didn't want to be walking all the time, LOL.

Anyway, those negative feelings all went away when I looked up the mountain and saw Ironforge for the very first time. I was absolutely in awe. And at that moment I was hooked on WoW...... 8+ years later, minus a month break here and there, and I am still playing, and a GM of a Horde and an Alliance guild on the same server, and the Horde guild was just started on April 3rd of this year.

When / what was your first WOW!!! moment in WoW?

Have to admit that Ironforge knocked my socks off as well. Then I went to Lock Moden and discovered that WOW was not all snow. I was awed by how big the game was. Close 2nd would be Outlands. Still my favorite place.

And cheers for Wetlands death run.

Probably the first raid I did, which I believe was Naxxramas or Ulduar, either one I had a few less WOW! moments through out the game more of just pausing for a couple of seconds before continuing on. My first large raid experience had to be it.

Stranglethorn impressed me with its sheer size as an area. But honestly it was my first Griffon ride over Elywin forrest that made me lose my mind. After walking everywhere, to fly over the treetops and view the sprawling land mass in the distance was a very very memorable moment.

Me to friend I started with: "I'm so confused. Why do people even like this??" lol

She had talked me into trying the 10 day trial, back when it existed. To be honest I didn't want to like it and at first wasn't sure I was going to. Meanwhile almost 3 1/2 years later...

Was only my second MMO, but coming from Wizard 101, where you can't even run down an embankment, the freedom of the area was pretty awesome. Was pretty impressed when I realized it had gone from day to night, started pouring rain for a bit, the ships actually took you somewhere, the tram... etc etc.

Back in 2006 after rolling my second character, a nelf druid (the first was a tauren hunter and I couldn't figure out how to load my gun, and Red Cloud Mesa was -so- boring) and I took my first hippogryph ride to Auberdine. That was the moment I fell in love with the game. The combination of flying on one of my favorite WC3 units, the fact that I was flying over an ocean (granted, a very small ocean), and then seeing the trees and beaches of Darkshore below me... magical.
You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

I remember being on a trial account and getting up to Redridge and thinking that since my time hadn't run out yet I might as well check out the next zone... which I thought was Burning Steppes... WHOMP!

Or maybe getting hopelessly lost in Org the first time. Or my first sight of Outland after being locked to 60 for weeks. Or my first raid - tagging along on a Kara run with 80s. Kara was amazing. Shortly after that, an Ulduar run.

    There were a lot.

Back in -05 when I started playing, and saw Darnassus for the first time on my level 5 Night Elf Rogue. That is also when I saw a Gnome in-game for the first time, which made me decide to reroll a Gnome Warlock - who is still my main to this day.

I've had tons of "wow!"-moments since then.

I think my first truly 'wow' moment as far as raiding is concerned was first seeing Ragnaros in Molten Core. Not having seen pictures prior to it and only stories about how big he was, I wasn't quite prepared for him nearly reaching the top of the room once he decided to show himself enveloped by fire and a big-ass hammer.

My first 'oh shit' kind of wow moment is a toss up between when I was a super noob wandering around Ashenvale and ran in to Bough Shadow and when I chilled out in the Alliance throne room when someone turned in The Great Masquerade which, at the time, had no damn clue what was happening and quickly gave the floor a hug.

    Jumping.
Yeah sounds kind "wtf?" but I started WoW when it first came out and I moved from FFXI, there was no jump.
I ran around jumping for no reason. Was a weird and cool thing...

This right here, especially the Chorus and big text part.

My first time as the same with a few posters in here was when I first saw Ironforge. I started out as a dwarf hunter, and still have that guy today because I loved the dwarven zones so much. My second WOW!! moment I will have to say was after I finally finished leveling in Dun Morogh and wandered into the zone called Loch Modan. So much change from snow to grass, the mountains, everything was different and I loved it. I ventured too far south and found the Badlands. Died quickly to random mobs, then decided I'd travel north. I found out there was a map about halfway north and saw the lake and at the north tip, a Dam. When I first saw that damn I was absolutely amazed and havn't seen anything to compare to them feels that day

playing undead warrior, getting chain feared then one shot by a paladin 10 levels lower than me, good old vanilla lol. All those anti undead spells worked on undead... I was helpless...

yup, almost the exact same thing for my druid.

out of curiosity, i took the boat to menethil harbor and some high level was on there. we chatted and i asked him where i should level after darkshore. he said to go to the human lands and told me how to get to IF and take the tram to SW.

the outside of IF didn't strike me much, but once i got inside, man my breathe was taken away by the interior and by the especially high ceiling. funny how in a just a few months that wonder dissapeared so easily and i never bothered to appreciate the high ceiling anymore.
