Not everyone has BoA gear.getting gear that doesn't matter at all because you're in boas
Questing is the best its ever been, stop kidding yourself... I don't care one bit about any of the zones/story or quests chains I just see it all as a means to get to level 90 when the game begins... its not fun having to travel, I like to pick up a load of quests and just faceroll through them all quickly and leave as soon as I can. Blizzard understands this mentality... they embrace it and they cater the game to players like us... we don't fuss over the integrity of the game because we just want to get to 90 and get cool epics fast.... I am happy with this and Blizzard is on my side... not yours... so stop whining... this is the future of gaming... learn to deal with it.
I understand where you're coming from, and Blizzard should just let players like you roll a level 85 pre-made with no questions asked (just like on the PTR or in beta). New players, on the other hand, are being rushed through content that is still appealing to them, or at least it would be if they weren't out-levelling each area after just four quests. Blizzard's current philosophy of placating players like you at the expense of new players isn't helping the game in the long run.
I think it's too fast for a first time character, but either right on par or a bit slow for those of us who've done it way too many times before.
Dude Dude Dude, let me just say this... you are so wrong... just totally wrong... if Blizzard gave instant 85s the subs would rise over 10 million in a day... I just know it... nobody cares about questing... nobody cares about lore its boring lolffs... they just want to be level 90 and in LFR and everything getting loot on characters... I don't care about what is better for the game in the long run... and I am the future of MMORPG'ers I have Blizzard on my side... so, I am right and you are wrong.
That is all well and good but a substantial number of subscribers would probably disagree with your views.I don't care one bit about any of the zones/story or quests chains I just see it all as a means to get to level 90 when the game begins...
Really? then why was it changed like this in the first place? Blizzard don't care about it either... they just stick out rinse and repeat quests from 1-60 80-90... they way it should have been done... I sometimes wonder how much better Vanilla would have been if it was like MoP... LFR would be amazing in AQ40 or Naxx... anyway... you are 100% wrong...maybe you care but you're a minority in Blizzards eyes... I am part of a majority... and the Majority rule...
And how many characters have you levelled before ?
This is obviously at least your second, which means experience.
The problem is most of the criticism of the speed of levelling comes from players who have done it at least once before, if not several times.
Different zones, different classes or factions do not exclude the fact that the experience is always easier the second time and becoming almost trivial after being completed several times.
I've got everything but my mage, shaman and monk at 90. None of those felt as if they were too slow, or too fast. I got my main (hunter) to 90 first, followed by gatherers to get Alchemy and Engineering to max on my main. After that I just took it slow, levelling small bits at a time, stopping when rested XP was gone. Do it this way and you can skip entire zones if you want to. On some characters I'd just finish Jade Forest and move straight into Kun Lai, others I'd go to Valley or the zone to the south. Never tried levelling by dungeons or PvP, it just doesn't appeal to me.
All classes were 85 before MoP hit and had most classes at 80 when Cata hit.
I have around 3 85's and 4 90's. Plus a tonne of other alts of all levels. I have also had plenty of other characters too but deleted some of them to make more space. And how many characters have you levelled before ?
It has to be said however that leveling is now leaps and bounds quicker than in Vanilla, BC or even Wrath for that matter. No such thing as leveling too fast when we're approaching 100 levels

They should make the option for zones to be scalable.
I am leveling my 4th character now, I am by no means an alt-oholic but I do enjoy the quest lines.
I recently did Redridge for the first time since Cata and I was enjoying the storyline, I was done with RedRidge midway through the zone (in terms of levels) but I decided to stay and finish the big storyline off, this delayed my leveling time and also put me too high for the next zone.
This was an issue because Duskwood was another zone I was looking forward to, yet now I was nearly too high level for Duskwood by the time I even reached it.
Making the option available to scale zones and quests with you would be perfect and I imagine not too hard to balance
Just how fast is the leveling now? haven't been on wow for a really long time.
It depends on whether you have xp bonuses or not.Just how fast is the leveling now? haven't been on wow for a really long time.
I have heard of people with around a 50% XP boost (Fully Heirlooms) managing 1-90 in well under a day.
Without Heirlooms or any XP boost, based on the math of my above comment, around or just under 3 days is possible.
This all assumes you are an experienced player however and know the questing fairly well.
Don't use heirlooms if they speed up leveling too much. Although in dungeons, give players who aren't using heirlooms a break. They could play as well as or better than anyone and will not be capable of doing the same damage/healing. It bugs me when people think that low-level dungeons should be tuned to heirloom level. I've run some low-level dungeons lately with friends, none of us wearing heirlooms, and if you're not in heirlooms they're not that difficult but it's still possible to screw up and wipe. I'd say that's about right.
Don't worry about being in a level 25 guild for the XP bonus. Guilds can wait. Skipping professions is harder, no argument.
If you're enjoying the story, finish the story and don't worry about the XP. If you're not into the story at all or if you've done it too many times already, move on at the first opportunity.
Whatever it is, do what suits you best.
