Smile Fun Math Puzzle: How much pocket money did I receive?

Hello .. I've found this nice math puzzle. Can you solve it?

    ---
Last weekend I was given my pocket money, which is meant to last me all week.

On Monday, I spent a quarter of my money on clothes.
On Tuesday, I spent one third of my remaining money on a CD.
On Wednesday I spent half of my remaining money on sweets.
Finally on Thursday I spent my last £1.25 on a comic.

How much pocket money did I receive?
    ---

    Start with 100%.
    Use 1/4, down to 75%.
    Use 1/3 of 75%, that's down to 50%.
    Use 1/2 of 50%, that's down to 25%.
Use £1.25 and you're broke, so those £1.25 was 25%.
    1.25*4 = £5.

God damn. 1.25 for clothes? 1.25 for a CD? The math adds up, but where the hell do you get those things for that cheap?!

The correct answer to this is actually 30. The simple way to get the answer is to do the math backwards....1.25 x 2(half) = 2.50. 2.50 x 3(1/3) = 7.50. 7.50 x 4(quarter) = 30. simple and easy, and also correct. Filathorns explanation made absolutely no sense.....if you started out with 5, and used 1/4, you'd have 3.75....1/3 of 3.75 = 1.25, half of 1.25 = 0.625. answer doesn't reflect the information given in the question.

Here's where you messed up. Yes, 1/3 of 3.75 is 1.25, but you spent 1/3, so you'd have 2/3 left. 2/3 of 3.75 is 2.50

Your maths went wrong with the 1/3. You took away 2/3s instead.
