She is just as ridiculous as he is. I think they both don't mind the media scandals as they actually boost Anthony's career. She just wants to be a mayor's wife no matter the cost and he wants to be in office no matter the cost. I think they are both disgusting people.

In most of the western world, people have learned to separate personal life from professional life. In the US alone we've got all sort of people on both sides of the isle who have repeatedly cheated on their wives and it hasn't hurt their career at all. Carlos Danger (if he wins), Newt Gingrich (who amazingly ran on family values in this last election), Mark "I was hiking the Appalachian Trail" Sanford, Bill "Depends what 'is' is" Clinton, etc., etc.

I wouldn't characterize Hitchens and Chomsky as being among certain chunks of the right. And it was literally the same day that Lewinsky gave her second and final round of grand jury testimony, a day he needed to appear presidential and decisive.

Clinton has a history of doing this. Like when he left the campaign trail to return Arkansas to oversee the execution of a mentally disabled on Jan 24, 1992. What happened on January 23? The Gennifer Flowers scandal broke.

I don't understand why a lot of people in this thread are blowing this off with "Oh well, he's a politician, they all lie. Who cares if he lied about this?" As a couple of people said, it matters because he kept doing it. He's going to run for mayor based on a list of campaign promises. Now, if he has a record of regularly lying, why should I as a NY voter believe anything he has to say, based on his record? I have no idea what his platform is, but he could conceivably run based on 10 issues, get into office, and renege on every single one of them. Granted that would be a horrible move politically, but voting for him could have that result. Credibility DOES matter, in politics. If he had right at the beginning been like "hey, fuck you guys, I have an open marriage and I can send dick pix to whoever I want" or whatever the case is I would've respected that. I mean, shit, I really hate the whole paparazzi/voyeuristic aspect of our culture anyway when it comes into prying into peoples' lives, so I would've supported him on that.
