WoW copying everything off other MMOs

    - Weekly quests (TOR)

    - Healing reduction in PVP when attacked (TOR)

    - Cash shop (TOR + others)

    - Jumping puzzle in Isle of Thunder (GW2)

    - Cart control PVP map (Global Agenda)

    - Integrated quest tracker with map markers (GW1)

    - Phasing (LOTRO, GW1)

A bunch of others but I forget..these guys don't come up with anything original anymore.

stuff like cash shop and jumping puzzles go way back. and healing reduction in pvp is a bad point as thats done to try and balance pvp...
and cart control maps are pretty old.

and games always take stuff off other games, if something is working well from another game or would improve the current game, why not use it? games, especially mmos take ideas from other/older games constantly.

    Neither is this post.

whats the alternative? A game that never expands into new territory?

The gaming industry is constantly evolving, and if existing/new games choose not to improve, it would undoubtedly fail.

There is a fine line between using stealing and utilizing technology that has been proven successful or applicable. IMO wow has not stolen anything.

Have you encountered instances where other games took something from WoW? or is this a demonizing wow thread...

I love how you come here to talk shit, and your post is also full of shit, you can't say they copied "ToR" for example on something that was a "thing" before ToR even existed, try making a thread with some potential in it next time aye

    Your thread isn't original either!

And you are copying this topic from an already dead thread. Really, the other thread went bad already, please don't try that again. And many of those mechanics were taken from others. We already agreed that borrowing is okay for games, as everyone is doing it. Blizzard haven't taken a mechanic and called their own, so nothing bad. And companies haven't been douches and put copyrights on it anyways, which is good for all games.

Other mmos copying everything from WoW

    - The entire business model (every MMO other than Everquest, who WoW copied)

Fun fact, game design is an iterative process. You take ideas from others, expand on them, hopefully for the better and you end up with an even better product for it.

Rift and TOR stole a lot of stuff from GW1 and WoW, so who cares?

Play what you enjoy, and stop making pointless threads.

How is this even a surprise? They've taken every other good idea that others MMO have had and implemented and in cases, better. What, you think vanilla WoW was an accident?

Most things about Original WoW was copied from Everquest, and nearly every MMO post WoW has copied some aspects of WoW.... what's your point?
