How item sets work?

Hi, this might sound a little dumb but confirmation would be good anyway.

I play a lock and got myself 502(LFR) tier15 hands. After that I got myself 522(normal) tier 15 legs.

Does my 2piece set work or tier pieces have to be same type ( lfr/normal/heroic )
2set text is green, which should mean that it has to work, but I have tested very easily as destro that it doesnt.
Have one burning ember-> use chaos bolt -> uses whole ember instead of 80%

you might want to reread set bonus then cause it works no matter the ilvl is

Yes it works. Did you have the Dark Soul buff during your test ?

wow I just realized that I really am dumb. I didn't really notice the part about Dark soul. thanks for pointing that out.
