I talked to a friend and he told me that in p3 if you have enough ranged you can keep healers next to tank on boss and thunderstrike wont target them, is there any truth to that?

Nope, Thunderstrike can target any ranged no matter how many are far.

Only a healer that melle mechanics apply to can I think. To my knowledge this only apples to mistweaver monks.

What people here have said. Monks are only healers who are "immune" to ranged mechanics, the rest can, and will at some point, get targeted by them.

Ranged can stand in melee to avoid ball lightnings (so long as you have 3 people out) but this doesn't work with thunderstruck.
