What are the essential priest addons these days (PvE)?

I stopped playing almost a year ago, just a few months into MoP and didn't think I'd come back so I removed all my stuff.
Needless to say, I got convinced to start playing again when a bunch of my friends did.

DBM etc are obvious but I used to have probably 30 addons installed back then and it took a crapload of configuring and fiddeling around to make it look any good. I was hoping I could accomplish the same thing with fewer addons now that the expansion has been around for a while.

I should probably add that I'm no fan of addon-packs in general. I like crafting my own UI.

This is what I used to have:
    http://i41.servimg.com/u/f41/12/51/00/69/wowscr17.jpg

Basically, I want similar (or better but that's subjective)
    -Grid
    -Nameplates
    -Cooldown / ICD tracking
    -Healthbars
    -Adjustable castbars
-Anything else in there that's important but i've forgotten abount

    Any help is appreciated!

If you're healing I would consider GridStatusPriestAoe mandatory.
Make sure you get the updated LibMapData to go with it.

    Aight, cheers

Anyone know the names of the cooldown icons (aura something...) and the cooldown bar? :P

  4. #4
    That's most likely WeakAuras.

Cooldown bar looks like CoolLine, but I'm not sure as I don't use such a thing. You also have Tidy Plates there.

    HaloPro is useful for positioning.

You should include Clique if you use Grid. (Most likely this counts as obvious, but better save than sorry.)

Here is what I use for the above:
    -Vuhdo
    -Tidyplates
-Weakauras / ForteXcorist (chronobars normally not but if there is something special i want to track I turn it on)
    -oUF
-oUF (Quartz if you want a seperate addon for it)
-Skada/Recount, platebuffs is quite nice, don't use for my priest since i only heal but have it for for my feral.

What you have in the picture:
    -Grid
    -Tidyplates
    -WeakAuras, CoolLine, Probably OmniCC
-Pitbull (there is a youtube video that explains the setup if you want it in the exact same way that you had it)

I also see Recount in there,

Aight, thanks all. I'll check out your suggestions tonight, keep 'em comming though

Is there any way to scale down the standard UI stuff and remove unwanted things such as the gryphons etc?
Or am i better off downloading a quickbar addon?

Sure, move anything should be able to do that for example

I would highly suggest Pom tracker to track who has your pom and how much charges it has left.

Any bar addon should be able to do that. I use Bartender and it does exactly that, and more.

Vuhdo does that, just need to set marker on

AffDots, TidyPlates and Gnosis are a must for shadow.
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years

The default UI does it too...

    Mandatory ?

Weak Aura's (cd's, dots enz enz)
A Bossmod like Bigwigs or DBM
And a cast bar showing Latancy so you can queue casts better.

Not Mandatory but good to have, HaloPro.

Other than that Default UI works..

But default UI isnt as customizable as people like it to be.

So i use Pitbull4, Bartender (so i can hide all my bars), Grid + Side icons/Clickset, Skada (2 windows, dps + aggro meter), moveAnything and most importantly Align.

If you not into Weak Aura's as much but only using it for CD tracking and active procs / debuffs than you need something to track your DoT/Rapture and all that. There Addons for AoE heals and all for priests on grid, while its prolly good to use and all but to me it doesnt feel awesome as i like too figure out me self on who to cast my aoe spells so it feels im doing the work and not my addon.

For me the mandatory ones that have been around forever despite the changes in the ui are grid with bunch of plugins, omnicc, dbm or bw and a cast bar addon.

I just recently took up weakauras and it seems to fill its purpose pretty nicely. Though there is no reason why I couldnt play without it, but it makes event tracking a bit faster. Tbh all i track with weakauras are: rapture, solace, meta proc and mana.

Was talking about shadow mainly. Weak Auras are a must for every class and spec.

I probably should have mentioned that I'm currently dual healing specced, havn't really decided which way to go in raids yet, but i'm thinking disc. (probably with shadow OS though)

As of right now, I have these addons installed:
    http://i75.servimg.com/u/f75/12/51/00/69/ui11.jpg
As you can see, I'm going for pretty much the same style I had before.

    - DBM
    - Weakauras
    - Pitbull
    - ECastingBar
    - Clique
    - IngelasRapture
    - Grid
    ---- StatusPriestAoE
    ---- Manabar
    ---- SideIcons
    ---- StatusShield
    ---- StatusRole
---- Might have missed something, got loads of them :P

    - CoolLine Cooldowns
    - ExtraCD
    - Prat
    - Recount
    - MikScrollingBattleText
    - Bagnon

Some of them don't show in the screenshot, but they are there. Ingelas is right in between my WeakAuras and the castbars are above the healthbars on the sides.

My quickbars are a mess, so I think that's next on the list, then something for my buffs/debuffs.
