What am I doing wrong?

so I followed mrrobot and a guide on icy-veins, I went mostly mastery and in lfr i was quite happy with myself but i knew 103k was not enough for SOO

so here is my rotation: FlameS- LavaB(always on cd)- ElemB(always on cd)-Lightb (as filler)-Earths (when on 5 stacks)

now a friend told me that mastery is bad, so i reforged back to haste and now im only doing 80k

Go full haste and run with PE imo

^ this, imo go with haste until you have around 30% or more when you reforge to mastery and also have the legendary meta gem. the gem + haste build is too much haste but until you get the gem or 540 ilvl you will struggle to have too much haste.

If you are questioning your own rotation then you should maybe think about using PE more as is greatly simplifies the rotation leaving less room for error.
