It has nothing to do with that. The screenshot that was submitted showing the trademark was an application, something in which ANYONE can do under any name they want. It wasn't a registered trademark.

The name the dark below also kind of encourages this. I think the next expac will be Azhsara, we get to 95, then the next expac will be the burning legion with Sargeras, and we get to 100, and that may be the last expac.
^^ This is PERFECT in my eye's, almost exactly what I think will happen. Then I keep hearing people stated Blizz will go way past 100 to keep making money... it's just hard to imagine the end of wow sometimes

I'm not sure how people are so foolish to think WoW will just.... stop? at like level 100. Newsflash: Everquest 2 is way older than WoW and at least 10-15 expansions bigger, and they are STILL making content for that game, and it's nowhere even close as successful as WoW is.

WoW will not stop for the death of a major lore character. WoW will stop when it ceases to be profitable.

I deadly hope you are right. This Jaina BS needs to stop.

OT: Even if we reach Level 100, I'm sure Blizzard will think of something. They're smart, not stupid.

I hope you're right. Dark Below might be an amazing xpac, but I'm holding out for Emerald Dream or an Azshara/South Seas/pirate-themed expansion

Seems they're getting better at keeping a lid on these things. By this time we were already pretty confident MoP was the expansion, yet with this we haven't a clue. Love it.
    Butts.

Careful, if it's something that's going to be a let down then most people who have all this anticipation built up will be raging on the forums.

You know nothing of it. So stop pretending it's going to be "all underwater and junk". You want to find a way to preemptively hate it.

We're currently in the south seas.

Anyone can do it. But What? August every two years the trademark is released. They tried saying MoP wouldn't be an expac either. They aren't able to hide a trademark. If they tm it someone is going to uncover it. And they aren't going to wait until the last minute to do it. Prepare yourself, it's the dark below.

    You child.....

Probably something to do with the Legion as a lot of people didn't like Vashj'ir so making a whole underwater expansion won't work. Just the typical though.

Pandaria, as far as I know, is not a part of the South Seas Islands. From what I can tell, Pandaria is south of Tel Abim, Hiji, Plunder Isle, Zandalar, etc.

In fact I'm almost banking on it being a South Seas xpac since we haven't fought Azshara yet, and with Vo'jin now being warchief I'm sure there will be yet another troll patch where Vol'jin goes off to try to deal with the rest of the trolls on Zandalar for whatever reason. Because apparently we can't have an expansion anymore without a troll storyline being in there somewhere.

How could it not be? It's an island. It's definitely in the south seas.

And for people who are still skeptical about TDB.

"So we now have to ask if the trademark has been legitimately applied for and registered. It is registered under a legal firm called F.R. Kelly, acting on Blizzard's behalf. You can see an image of the section of the record here, or search it yourself. The law firm are specialist patent and trademark attorneys. Also notable is that the trademark status is currently under examination, with the application received two days ago. About when MMOC first published their story. What's more, the law firm is the same one that registered Reaper of Souls."

I've seen that list on Allakhazam back in '05-'06, when Allakhazam and thotbot where the only decent resource of information i knew about, i'm sure many of you remember those sites.
Ofcourse the list is not completely accurate, concepts are made and changed in every kind of development...

    Edit:

Blizzard stil decides what they do with the game, Sunwell Plateau was not originally intended to be added during The Burning Crusade expansion but was added to give players something to do while waiting on the next expansion.

It's more of a continent. Yes, an island continent, but I really don't know anyone who considers Pandaria to be a part of the South Seas Islands.

A South Seas xpac would deal with the rest of the troll races, goblins and their capitol of Undermine, the Bloodsail Buccaneers, etc.

If the xpac is about Azshara it wouldn't necessarily be a South Seas xpac though, Nazjatar/Suramar is closer to the Rift at the center of the Maelstrom.

Pandaria is in the 'South Seas' but it is not the 'South Seas' expansion. There is an entire series of islands and zones that are considered to be part of the 'South Seas'. If the next expansion is Old God/Naga related, it'll likely be the 'South Seas' expansion, or at least include the islands that are in that area.

That's neither leaks nor front page worthy in any way.

I'm talking strings upon strings of data with items and tier sets and raids and dungeons and zones all coming out in waves upon waves.

They got backlash for MoP being new and therefor non-warcraft.

    It'll be 2 or 3.

Only reason why it got backlash was because it was eastern themed, they didn't show enough of the new game content involved (ie, challenge mode, new class, etc)
