Shots fired outside the US Capital

While listening to the stock market news reports on my trading platform Reuters broke the story that a gunman (possibly gunmen) fired shots outside the US capital. Currently congress has shut down the US government by trying to stop, defund, or change obamacare and the debt ceiling.

Of course, the republicans have no care for the ordinary citizen. They're extremists bent on stopping anything by Barack "hussein" Obama. If the US government defaults on it's debts and responsibilities a world wide economic crisis will ensue.

All of you non Americans here on this board must be extremely concerned as it will affect you negatively both short and long term. With the world economy slowly coming back to normal and out of the doldrums it is not a time to hamper or malign it in any way. You should start making calls to your representatives and urge them to push your national leaders to pressure the US congress (in particular our extremist republicans) to put a hasty end to this fiasco.

In short, the republicans are trying to save face and are trying to get obama to do it for them. They're using brinksmanship and extortion (holding up the debt ceiling, govt closure) to get their concessions.

This is something you should be very concerned about.

I'm closing this thread because starting a thread by dumping on one of the political parties by calling them "extremists" is unacceptable. There is a huge bias in this thread that would prevent any constructive discussion.

Regardless of your political beliefs, we expect threads to remain as unbiased as possible and present both sides of an issue so it can be discussed.
