    Malkorok question

I have a question regarding, Imploding Energy.

    Which is preferable:?

    a) Assign specific people to soak Imploding Energy
    b) Leave it to the judgement of whoever stands next to it to move in/out?

    (and why)

10 man specific question if it matters.

Assuming you don't have absolutely millions of melee - have your offtank soak the melee one and have your ranged and healers spread well around the room at all times other than to dodge the smashes, the one shot move and the blood rage.

If you have at least 4 ranged/healers it's doable but can be a little annoying if 2 people run to the same one and leave a big gap for the other people. If you have 5 or 6 ranged/healers, it's pretty simple and you'll always have someone near to an Imploding Energy pool to soak.

There's no point allocating specific people, because RNG dictates that both Imploding energies could spawn on the opposite side of the room to them, right next to 2 other people.

The floor is split up into 8 segments.

You will probably have something like 6-7 ranged, so assign each to a segment. And the 2 people on the sides of the empty segments be a aware of that empty one too, so handle it together.

Don't have a tank soak the melee one, soaking it with stacks can go right through the shield. Our heals and ranged dps communicate well with so we just let them work it out who would take what.

Position your ranged dps and healers around the platform and simply have them run to the nearest imploding energy. As far as the imploding energy near the boss, have your melee or one of your tanks soak that one. Don't over-complicate the mechanic - it is very straight-forward.

Always do the minimum required to achieve the maximum possible result.

Honestly, just spread your raid out evenly around the edge of the platform. Make sure you call out on vent/TS when the pools are coming so people can expect it then you will never miss one. Just leave it to the judgement of your players, it's the same principle as the crawler mines on Iron Juggenaut. If your players cannot take the pools by themselves then there's something majorly wrong. It's the easiest mechanic.

EDIT: Our team on progress kill was composed up of 2 tanks, 3 healers, 2 melee DPS, 3 ranged dps.
Our healers and ranged, together making 6 players spread around the room leaving the 2 melee dps to take the closest one.

This is the easiest way to do it. Everyone but the tanks take a segment zone drops in you segment you pick it up. DPS isn't really an issue on the fight as long as your executing and not having 2-3 people dead by the end.

This also allows the tanks to drop the markers/remember where zones were that are going to be hit by breath

Honestly just leave it to your raiders. Don't overcomplicate this fight, it's really easy. Just make sure that your ranged and healers are spread out and try and soak them. Melee take the ones that are close to the boss (obviously). It's really not a problem.

We had 5 ranged (2dps, 3 healers), everyone got a zone to cover. Ppl would talk if it spawned between 2 zones.
    Melee would take turns.

We always had a melee soaking the closest void to the boss, then all the ranged players spread around to get the other two. In fact we just split the whole room in thirds and then had the players with blinks (mage, druid, hunter in our case) deal with their respective areas.

Regarding your second question, it's better to have two or three people standing in a void than no one.

Condition you're people to NOT freak out and spread if they see another person heading for the same puddle. Its optimum that only one person, with a healthy shield, go into it. But if you have two people with green shields run, see the other, then they both stop, the energy explodes hitting everyone for mroe individual damage than if it had been soaked. If you've got a green shield, gtf in it no matter what. If two people get hit it doesnt matter. If noone soaks it hits the entire raid +20% extra damage so with so little time to communicate you have to just pile in them.

The methods listed so far cause confusion and WILL lead to double soaking or hesitation which leads to no soaking.

The arena is divided into 8. There's an inner circle. One void zone always spawns in the inner circle and two always spawn in the outer circles. Always.

Have a melee dps (or tank - we had tanks do it and it wasn't an issue though if they are severely undergeared I suppose it could be - our 533 tank had no issue) soak the inner circle one. The same dps every time. The healers can keep him topped off as they'll know he needs healing.

Divide the area into four quadrants using the raid markers. Assign 4 ranged (prefer dps), one to each of these markers. These ranged players will get ANY void zone in the sections directly left and right of them. Any ranged not assigned should NEVER get a void zone. This way, everyone knows exactly what they should be getting and what they shouldn't be. No confusion. No assuming others will. Raiders know they have to soak that zone or they will wipe the raid.

If you were using the markers to mark the smash, just keep track of it in your mind and the raid leader can call out a safe spot. IE, you can recite a mantra in your mind (not on red, not red through green). It sounds confusing but it really isn't. There's always a decent sized safe area that you can call out with markers (either on a marker or in between two).

Our Raid comp is typically 2 Tanks 2 Healers 2 Melee DPS and 4 Ranged

I place all 5 of the Raid Beacons around the circle on the ground as close to a pentagon as I can.

I assign each of the ranged DPS to an area, and one of the healers to the 5th remaining marker.

Basically means 1 healer gets to just stand in melee and heal, the other gets to heal and soak if theres one near them.

The Beacons are useful to call out the safe zones for Breath of Y'Shaarj as well.

Outside of that, Melee gets any Imploding Energy close to the boss, just common sense.

I really wouldn't recommend using 5 markers. It leads to unnecessary confusion and adds another person that MUST be kept at full in case hey need to soak.

The area can be evenly and logically split in 4. That's how it should be hit. In fact, it's already split in 8. Two sections for each dps. Easy. Everyone knows what they need to do and what someone else is going to do.
