Current talent system does not have choice. It's all cookie cutter in some tiers.

In priest for example, out of three talents in the same tier, one for disc, one for holy and one for shadow. There is no choice. It's even more mandatory and cookie cutter than in the old talent tree.

Mandatory talents did existed, the same way non-mandatory talents existed, the same way no WoW good player ever argued if we picked the talents that allowed you to survive a boss instead of nuking him. Question...

Are you a good player?? Or are you one of the morons that just spamed ''His not using the good spec, kick him''

You know that bosses where you could take profict of nuke talents are so rare back then (the kind of Patchwerk), that maded the optimal dps specs completly nonsense, and i loled every time i saw another copy paster. I've always donne my builds... Again, yes, mandatory talents did existed, there was plenty space for custumization.

Custumization over what?? Aesthetics?? Because all i see, is the way you heal, the way you finish a rotation, the way you stun the way you boost your party, its all thematic, the only custumization you have is the aesthetics of the spell you've choosen.

They wiped it because of the same reason they wiped all specs, IT GIVES THEM HEADACHE to balance them, if they can remove it why not?' That's exactly what they have donne, they are lazzy.

people still have "default" cookie cutter specs for each boss. the current talents haven't fixed it, just removed the penalties for those who cant be bothered changing.

Players will always min/max for efficiency, so why not just have the old school systems
    Hi

I don't think they need new talent system. The current one is great and I like it. What they should do is adding another character customization system. Like new, changed and improved path of the titan or whatever.

Not really true. Changing talents on fights is actually the optimal way to play.

I would like something different more.

Add 8 tiers one at 15, 30, 45, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. Of which 5 are "signature" specified for your spec. Your signatures would be around 30, 45, 70, 90 and 100. Signatures will be spec based and make you specialise into something. A rogue could choose (for all 3 specs) more ranged, reverse discpriest (small aoe heals by doing damage) or more aoe/melee.

A priest disc/holy could instead have signatures that would make it more of a melee range healer, more aoe heal or more absorption.

Every class would have something likewise like this. Specs that look like eachother (two healing specs, 2 dps specs) will share the same signatures. Specs that have more then 3 roles will only get to choose between 2 signatures. Classes like hunters and rogues that have 3x the same spec get a 6th signature at level 80 instead of an ability.

The other 5 talents would be abilities like we have now. One edit : Signatures are saved, if you choose ranged in one line all other lines will be ranged aswell.

I think that would be much more interesting, having much more customization.

Players will always min/max, so why not just remove the offending system entirely?

So instead of injecting a slew of new talents for each class to play with and explore each expansion, just cut it all together.

Seems to be exactly the direction blizzard is headed so you will probably get your wish. All the while wondering to yourselves why players are leaving this bland boring company in droves. This company who used to be so good at making RPG's when they cared about the game, now makes lazy absurdly linear RPG's where character customization is non existent. All in the name of "accessibility" Lol.

    Good luck with that.

Well if people are willing to claim "The tier system didn't work, so let's just roll it back to 80-tier trees" then why not stop bothering to try and fix it, stop trying to maintain it, stop trying to expand it.

Just axe talents and roll them into specs and glyphs.

*Note: I actually like the tier system and want it expanded.*

The word spec doesn't have any meaning in the game anymore. IDK if you are incapable of seeing the similarities but glyphs are just another word for talent, the idea was as redundant the day it was added as it is today. Could of just as easily been talents in the tree but blizzard (and by proxy their loyal fans) thought they were being "clever".

Oh the blizzard loyalist love the new system , wonder why. /roll eyes

Here's a raging clue for you. Blizzard didn't kill cross specs because the "illusion" of choice. It was because the players (as usual) were too smart for blizzard and coming up with specs that blizzard never thought of. So in the name of some BS "Balance" blizzard killed that off by forcing everyone down to the last talent IE making it easier for themselves as developers to design their bland, boring, accessible, trees.

The new system is just a continuation of the same train of thought. It would be obvious to everyone, but their intelligence is overshadowed by their loyalty to a company (shamefully its only a shadow of it's former self, otherwise that loyalty would be deserved)

This is kinda clueless. There were talents that you simply had to use. If you don't then you are stupid. I played feral druid back then and 90% of the points I had were spent in the talants that were mandatory. 10% left could be spent anywhere but it won't affect how you play that much at all. Old talent system is the epitome of boring and uninspire. Accessibility was not the main reason the old talent system was removed in the first place.

Now you have to actually change talent depending on fights. Some of them change your rotation completely like Dream of Cenarius for example. Next time before insulting other people, make some reasonable argument first.

And you think this is some new phenomenon? People have been doing this since Molten core. Difference is there was actually more to choose from.

On one hand you complain about the old systems 'mandatory' talents while praising the new system for it's mandatory talents LOL, can't even keep your own bs from smelling up your talking points.

The wholesale removal of selectable talents, most all of the buffs and meaningful glyphs and replacing them with things that deliberately make as little of a difference as possible is not really an overhaul, nor do they make the game better in any way.

What that is, is simply Greg Street making Greg Street's job easier for Greg Street period!

Not really. Back then changing talents only mean you loss some damage and get a bit tougher. It didn't change how you play in any way. You could play with more than 1 "mandatory" talent in current system so yes it's better. Sorry but you are wrong.

Again, the only difference between then and now is there being less decisions to come to the same basic conclusion, trading of dmg / survivability / utility with one another.

Keep raiding that LFR and thinking you know anything =)

How you play your class is an important aspect. If you are only looking at number then I hope you are not a game designer. You will do the same thing no matter how you tweak you talent(if you happened to have a little room to tweak) in the old system.

wut? What about choosing a talent that give you 5% armor change your play? You really played back then?

Less options != less decisions. That you changed 10 points around doesn't mean that you had to make 10 decisions.

Grasping at straws now cherry picker.

Let's see, oh these druid "talents" are such game changers. Lets see here, oh 3 different versions of the same movement boosting ability, how innovative.

Everyone seems to bash the 5% more of something but I remember from when I was a tank in BC and before I might choose to take a dpser talent in place of a tank one once a boss was on farm.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
