I wish all these communists stopped playing video games really.

These days success is measured in $$ signs.

If you envy that, well copy the success of Bobby. Btw, Zampella and West ran over to EA behind Activision's back and were fired accordingly.

Kotick took over Activision in the 90's for a handful of dollars and made it to a yearly multi billion dollar company in less than 20 years. Activision is now valued at 19 billion dollars ... Oops...

At least Activision doesn't absorb game developper companies and then spit them out like EA does all the time: see Blizzard's independance structure, the upcoming Destiny from Bungie and the huge praise Kotick got recently from the Skylander developpers when he asked them the game to be pushed back and get one more extra year in development.

A perfect example is how Blizzard always is way behind their initial launching plans. Apparently and according to the guys behind Skylanders, Bobby Kotick understands the markets much better than kids think on the internet.

Nice, definetly like to see them getting rid of a cancerous organization like vivendi. But now they have to show that all the shitty stuff they could blame vivendi for (or their fanbois sometimes claim) is actually not their idea. Considering the people that (still) run the show though, I guess one or two odd decisions on their part and EA for once just shutting up and they will reclaim their place among EA as the most evil company .

no all activision does is publish the same copy and paste game every year called call of duty, rather buy EA games than activision since EA and dice make battlefield and battlefield is the better game

Titanfall is a new fps coming out fall 2014, made by respawn entertainment, which was formed by the infinity ward split by Zampella, West, and a few others on the raw end of that deal. The thing is looking beautiful. Think of the good bits of the Battlefield franchise mixed with some old school counterstrike.

Here's a video of some in-game multiplayer, as in what a normal match against some friends looks like.

OT: Kottik's at the helm, and a bit of a douche, but I honestly don't think he's directly in control (with the exception of maybe microtransactions) of the actual quality of any Blizzard IP. It's always been in the right hands and taking Vivdendi out of the picture isn't going to trickle down to us common-folk in any way, imo.

Possibly. We do know Vivendi was on the fast track to bankrupt and was planning to take profits from Acti-Blizz to save itself.

Despite WoW losing their subscription base; the Income which they got from Activision went from -.15% in 2008 to over 15.5% in 2012. If this was a typical merger then the share price of Activision should have gone up and that of Vivendi should have gone down. However both the share price have gone up. On the face of it this could mean that the shareholders and analysts following Vivendi thinks that Activision was going to bring down the profits of Vivendi but the shareholders and Analysts of Activision believe that seperating from VIvendi was actually a good thing.
One party is going to be disappointed in the long run.

It keeps Acti-Blizzard safe from being 'asset-stripped' by Vivendi which is a good thing... but the real issue to Blizzard is still in the room... Kotick.

All the time Blizzard is controlled by Kotick and Activision things r not good at all.

Vivendi had absolutely jackshit to do with anything gaming... they were simply the majority shareholder of Acti-Blizzard.

The only company which has a control over Blizzards gaming decisions and direction is Activision. They have the worst rep in gaming for sucking money out of anything good then dumping it and buying out the next big thing... Rockstar turned them down.

I remember when Vivendi stepped in and gamers were in an uproar. Glad to see this change and hopefully it's for the best. About time they got most of their independence back

Vivendi had control of the board, and the board has control of the overall direction of the corporation. Decisions to invest in significant projects have to be blessed by the board, and cannot be changed without the board's approval.

Yeah... That's not true at all. It's kind of amazing how popular this misconception is. Blizzard and Activision were both purchased by Vivendi and merged together to form Activision Blizzard. Blizzard did not own or control Activision nor did Activision own or control Blizzard. You are basically looking at the armed forces of the United States and making the baseless and completely nonsensical assumption that the Air Force controls the Navy. Two different organizations doing two different jobs under two different managing bodies both operating under the same larger body. Pretty complex concept.

Activision was never purchased by Vivendi.

No, Vivendi had owned blizzard for a long long time. Long before the Acti-Blizz merge. They never interfered with Blizzard's creative process.

The part of Vivendi that included Blizzard was merged into Activision. As part of the deal, Vivendi got a controlling share in the merged entity.

At no point in this process did Vivendi "own" Activision. After it was completed, Vivendi did not "own" Activision-Blizzard; they just owned a controlling share in it.

I do believe that Activision purchased Vivendi Games in a reverse merger where they offered shares, to the value in Vivendi Games, of the new company, Activision Blizzard, to Vivendi, the owner of Vivendi Games.

If you are a WOW player and not an ATVI share holder then I do not think this is news; good or bad.

As a gamer I couldnt care less about the news. It will have no impact what-so-ever on the grand scale.

As a Shareholder for ATVI I am really happy and hopefully the rising trend since last week will continue forward.

If nothings broken dont fix it. If people stop buying Call of duty then you can fix it. Until then they would be stupid too change anything.
