Snow elves? What? That kind of reminds me of Skyrim... with the Falmer and all that. But why do you want so many different elves? Sea elves, snow elves, dark elves, night elves, blood elves, underground elves...
What's next? Desert elves? Sky elves? Mountain elves? Don't make me laugh, I don't hate elves... but I don't want a million different elf species.

Warcraft has sea elves...they're naga. Naga are just night elves who have been transformed by the powers of some unknown old god, hence they are sea elves if you wish.
As far as drow and snow elves...I find neither to be very compelling. I mean wtf is a snow elf anyways?
What is this I don't even. They've evolved into TWO SEPARATE RACES. Ice trolls are ice TROLLS. They are not elves in any way.

Back in the days of old... they lived a very prosperous life in a continent that is now called Skyrim. Then the almighty Nords came and went to war with the snow elves. They were forced to flee and forge an uneasy alliance with the dwarves (dwemer a.k.a. deep elves). Eventually the dwarves ended up betraying them. When the dwarves disappeared/went extinct the Falmer took over. Falmer are snow elves, blind and tortured and filled with hate. You now know what a snow elf is.
In other words, snow elves have no place at all in the WoW universe.

....night elves are a mix of wood elf and dark elf from D&D
They were basically conceptualized as drow without the evil and then got the wood elf sprinkled in.
Did I miss something here, or did the forum just unanimously decided to turn popular speculation into cannon lore.

Yea but theyre not elves, theyre naga. Just because they once were night elves doesnt make them elves now.

High elves arnt pretty? Relative to what?
I want something more unique, and original.
I don't have a source but I've often suspected a lot of the original inspiration for the Night Elves came from the Drow. It's fairly obvious if you look in the right places. Both are associated with the dark, female leaders, female deity and priesthood, some sort of base affinity with nature (Drow and spiders for example), Night Elves can just about pass as looking similar with the later versions of Drow (the ones with bluey/dark skin not black).
"snow elves" ugh, something about that rubs me the wrong way, like something that would be made fun of very quickly.
The Naga are the Sea Elves you are looking for.
The San'layn are the Dark Elves you are looking for.
We've already got enough on our plate with the High Elf fanatics and their Race Group idea.
Let's not give them the idea to have an Elvish offshoot of every race on Azeroth.
FFXIV - Maduin (Dynamis DC)
Night Elves basically ARE Drow, just an inverted version without being evil, living underground or having the spider fetish. Their roots are in Amazon society but they have all the trappings of inverse Drow: Good rather than evil, live in trees (about as high up as you can go) rather than underground, you could maybe argue panthers (nightsabers) instead of spiders, worship a female goddess, clearly a female dominated society (see: Tyrande, the fact nearly all Sentinels are female), they even have a Drow-like skin color.
"Dark" Elves like in other games are pretty much San'layn, while Blood Elves are a subverted traditional fantasy elf with a dark tone. "Snow Elves" don't really exist in most fantasy that I've seen, I guess you mean like blue skin/white hair lives in the tundra? Sea Elves are essentially Naga, in fact Naga are basically Sea Elves with the Drow backstory: evil queen/goddess banished to the darkness, her and her minions mutated to reflect their evil.
