rig upgrade -> new geames ready

    Hey guys,

Looking to upgrade my rig, since it has been quiet a while now. I am looking for upgrade that will run the newest games smoothly while maintaing a lower budget.

My spec atm is CPU i5 650, Cyclone 6850 factory OC and a Gigabyte motherboard (I am not sure about the code as I am in work. A typical 4-5 years old Gigabyte motherboard).

These 3 things I would like to upgrade. The budget to be $300 - $400 and my questions are where to put more money and where less. Does motherboard needs upgrade? I suppose so because of new chipsets? Is it worth to buy 4670k cpu and some cheaper GPU or balance it?

I am looking for something I wont have to upgrade next few years

    Thanks a bunch

This is a tough one. In terms of relative oldness/power your video card is stronger. If it was me i would get the 4670k and mobo. Your 6850 will play new games like bf4 just at reduced settings. The funny thing is i could make the argument the other way and tell you to get a video card and OC your CPU lol.

You will likely get different answers on this one, but i would personally get a CPU and MOBO and oc it. 6850 is still relatively decent.

BTW CPU and mobo pretty much eats your whole budget, unless you live near a microcenter. If you lived near a microcenter you could sell your 6850 on craigslist, and upgrade all 3 things probably.

Also ill throw this out there, some people (not the smartest people in the world) upgraded their 2500k/2600k systems in favor for ivy or haswell. Its worth a look on craigslist for a cheap 2500k/2600k/2700k motherboard combo.

The question is, does MOBO needs an upgrade? Or could I fit 4670k (or some cheaper CPU) and new GPU to my current MOBO? :/

Yes you need a mobo lol. Go to microcenter.com and see if you live near one, you can save quite a bit on cpu+mboard there.

Nvm im retarded you live in czech republic LOL.

I have no idea where you buy your stuff and what the prices are.

Just found a CZ site to link stuff for guidance, doesnt mean you have to buy there, i dont know your good or bad shops.

    Motherboard: http://www.alza.cz/asrock-z87-pro4-d446251.htm

    CPU: http://www.alza.cz/intel-core-i5-4670k-d430873.htm

    RAM:http://www.alza.cz/kingston-8gb-kit-...on-d245861.htm

    Generally what i mean is, get a 4670K, a motherboard like Z87 Pro4/Z87-A, and CL9 1600Mhz 8GB RAM.

Use the card you have still you can upgrade it later it is not that horrible.

    haha thanks!

OK Ill upgrade the MOBO and CPU then only. I already got 8GB 1600Mhz so atleast that is saved.

In the near future I want to play mainly COD Ghosts (Nope I am not a fat retarded kid, just like the series, dont hate me :/). So I guess the GPU should be good enough.

    Thanks a lot!

I would probably go for an AMD set up with your budget. (also used the same shop as potis)

    8320 + gigabyte 970 mobo

http://www.alza.cz/amd-fx-8320-d360499.htm + http://www.alza.cz/gigabyte-970a-ud3-d243280.htm + the ram the other guys linked.

The intel would perform better in games like WoW and other CPU bound games. In GPU bound games you will probably not see a difference.
Just putting the AMD option out there due to your budget this way you will have some money left, so you can start saving for a gpu.

Wow thanks! Never really considered that option. How much behind is this CPU? Or to which Intel CPU can this be compared to in terms of power?

Just to give a general idea how it performs. If the 8320 isnt in the list, just look at the 8350. The 8320 is a bit lower clocked that is all. You can overclock it to 8350 speeds.

    And from the BF4 beta

    from: http://gamegpu.ru/action-/-fps-/-tps...-test-gpu.html

It really depends on what you play. The intel will most likely be ahead, but it is more expensive.
With your budget, I would personally go for an AMD build (but I dont play MMO's anymore and hardly any RTS game) But if you play a lot of RTS/MMO's the intel would probably be a better choice.

Its a no no to recommend AMD at any price bracket. That chart is 100% false, here is from tomshardware a reputable site:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...e,3634-10.html

And BF4 is about the only game AMD even comes close to intel performance because its one of the only games that can leverage the extra "cores" from the AMD.

I hate to be so harsh but at this point in time it is widely accepted that amd has no place to even be in the discussion of enthusiast level CPU's.

    Eh..Actually Fascinate you are wrong.

Tomshardware isnt as good as it sounds/seems its actually a rather poor quality site as it was proven before, lol at the extreme 6 core same as i5 2500K, seriously.

There has been hotfixes on Windows that make AMD's slightly stronger than what they were for awhile now.

Intel is still better but the difference isnt as big as it was and talking about Crysis 3/BF 4 gametypes the 8350 does as good as 3770K/4770K, and i am an Intel fanboy bro, simply because it those game use the cores.

My post remains, i5 4670K/Mobo/RAM, use the rest you already have, when you find some money buy a 270X or 280X, depending how much you have, buy a cooler after that and OC it, and voila.

Dont go for the 8130, its weaker than it seems.

And thats why this forum is second rate. Go to an actual hardware forum and you wont see a single person recommend AMD.

Im not gonna link a million benchmarks, he can research those on his own, ill just link tiny tom logans 8350 review it pretty much sums up my exact thoughts:

lul just noticed the tomshardware is a poor site remark. I honestly cannot tell if you are trolling or if you actually believe the nonsense coming out of your fingers.

I clearly stated that i am an Intel fanboy, yet you somehow didnt understand that, i am not really sure you understand english cause i am not sure which letter or number of i5 4670K says i recommended AMD.

Tomshardware is the MMO-Champion of hardware forums, overpopulated by clueless people and its reviews are meh most of the times, the certain reviews are generally good, but because they never re-check anything and use old numbers its a meh site, just because you blindly trust them, doesnt mean much bro.

AMD CPU's arent as good because of power consumption and weakness in single threads which most old games are based on.

Crysis 3 and BF4 can use every core, making 8350 a not so horrible CPU for those 2 games, still behind the newer Intel ones but not as horrible as shown.

Its still horrible for everything else , that doesnt change.

Son, ive owned twice as many AMD cpu's in my life as intel.......there is a reason i dont have amd in my system now.

And you bashing tomshardware makes every comment you have ever posted in this forum irrelevant, if i could figure out how to ignore forum posters you would be my first. Ignorance is a pet peeve of mine, along with stupidity, you seem to be brimming with both.

    User was infracted.

    Cute, turning to swearing.

    You simply cant read.

Toms reviews are good when its something of the certain generation, when its comparing something newer vs older, they are pathetic because they dont recheck, they copy their old results.

Seriously, I feel like watching ping pong atm What the hell am I supposed to do now!

@Zeara I do play MMOs! For example in Firefall, my PC is just not good enough! I have to have everything on low - medium to get alteast solid 20fps. Then it is APB, its the same thing, Neverwinter same thing :/ most of the GPU based games run good thats true.

So I suppose it is indeed better to upgrade CPU first?

If you play mainly MMO's, than yes get the Intel build Your gpu will hold out for a while longer
