I am sorry, but there is nothing racist about dressing up in a costume one day a year. I swear people clench their anuses and get butt hurt over the most retarded shit ever. I don't see how dressing up like a cowboy is racist, considering that is as much a fashion style as it is a lifestyle since there is still.l a strong country life presence in North America. People trying to be PC just because they have nothing better to do. I wonder what these folks would say if people came to their doors on Halloween dressed up like something really racist like Hitler or someone dressed up like a KKK member.
People really need to get over this whole, "Everything is discrimination against minorities guys D:!!!!!1111" bullshit. I'm part latino yet I don't bitch and moan when somebody wears an oversized sombrero.
I am dressing for Halloween as a Waffen SS officer. Gonna report here how it went.
*wereTheir campaign's slogan: "We're a culture, not a costume."
They were a culture. Couple of old school guys pulling their shamanistic stuff does not mean their culture is still alive, and most of the new Indians are assimilated in the american culture. And yet the so cold Indians have bunch of casinos and enjoy the fruits of the evil western world that beated them. They should just drop the "we are a culture" stuff.

You can't see how it would be offensive to black people to dress up like a "black person" and behave like a foolish thug and say "this is my black costume" this isn't a fucking minstel show.

cowboys are one thing, dressing up like a mexican in a super stereotypical way can be offensive to mexicans.
it was a racist and imperialist tradition. get over it.
Well in the news story that ran they were speaking of they didn't show just a cowboy.
I don't see how the typical cowboy costume is offensive they're not typically as offensive as the racial/cultural ones. geisha for instant I don't see as being offensive, unless they behave offensively.

People in the thread:
"Why I everyone picking on us? We want to dress up in an ethnic theme, but for some reason people say we can't? Why? WHY?? WHY???"
Me:
Because you don't condemn fools like this...
...who always come out of the woodwork, succeed in completely missing the point, and ruin it for the rest of you by being "edgy"/taking things too far. So until you learn to police your own (as you like to dictate that others should do) the "PC crowd" will keep making things more and more uncomfortable for you. Aw man. I can just hear the apologists typing their excuses for his behavior, now.
"Oh, he's just joking."
"Get thicker skin!"
"Well...well...I'm not going to condemn him; so here's a distraction via me bringing up a similar scenario that someone else did!"
