Average Arena Season Length and Current Estimate

Hello I just noticed there was not a lot of data on new players about how long a arena season usually last.

I have seen many questions about it and would like to do some math from my past experiences and data collection. This is all based on true data and trustworthy sources.

This post is nothing more than constructive math.

    Season 1 January 30, 2007 - June 19, 2007 20 Weeks
    Season 2 June 20, 2007 - November 26, 2007 23 Weeks
    Season 3 November 28, 2007 - June 23, 2008 29 Weeks
    Season 4 June 24, 2008 - October 14, 2008 17 Weeks
    Season 5 December 16, 2008 - April 14, 2009 17 Weeks
    Season 6 April 21, 2009 - August 25, 2009 18 Weeks
    Season 7 September 1, 2009 - January 19, 2010 20 Weeks
    Season 8 February 2, 2010 - October 12, 2010 37 Weeks
    Season 9 December 14, 2010 - June 28, 2011 28 Weeks
    Season 10 July 05, 2011 - November 29, 2011 21 Weeks
    Season 11 December 6, 2011 - August 28, 2012 38 Weeks
    Season 12 October 2, 2012 - March 5, 2013 22 Weeks
    Season 13 March 12, 2013 - September 11, 2013 26 Weeks
    Season 14 September 17th - N/A

    Average Season Length 24 Weeks

Being 7 weeks into season 14 at the moment.

These dates and seasons lengths makes the average season length to round out to be about 24 weeks. The longest arena season ever was s11 being 38 weeks. So that means the next arena season/Xpac launch date will be somewhere between 24 weeks and 38 weeks from September 17th.

So from basic math we should see that the current season should end somewhere between March 4th, 2014 - June 10th, 2014

Hope this data can help some new players (:

    Your reasoning is sound.

But you forgot to take into consideration the length of pve content before it's natural exhaustion.

So based on previous experiences I'd say that SoO will not be fully depleted until September'ish , so an expansion will probably be pushed till around that period.
Now assuming this is true there should be another season after this one, the proof is in your achievement tabs in game, just go into pvp and scroll down, there's a "S15 Prideful conquest" or things like that for a season that doesn't exist.

Since the pre-expansion patch hasn't been released there is no way for next expansion data to exist in our achievements tab, using that logic it can only mean that there is another season after season 14 and that the expansion can only come after S15 which is towards September-December.

    I hope this helps

To my understanding that achievement was just added as a backup so they would be able to go with a new season should the release of the next expansion prove to be slow. Blizzard has said that this is the last raid, and they don't want a repeat of S11 when we were all bored to tears of both the arena season and ICC. Let me see if I can find the blue talking about it. Some quick google searching came up empty, so perhaps what I thought was just speculation I had read.
