Content drought is a combination of catchup mechanics and no new content.

Which is why there should be no change in the first place, putting extra work onto the developers which is basically a useless change is pointless.

    Yeah.

EXTRA WORK.. Haha.. Changing 1 line of code - because that's what it is.

Epics do not feel epic anymore. And since we cannot take them away because at the end of the day that would make a lot of the playerbase leave if purples are replaced with blues, I came up with the idea of giving the next expansion's (new) raiding tier an upgrade.

I am talking about a purely aesthetic change: give that epic feel back, call the gear mythic. Give it a red label. So when you truly get an item of this value, you feel rewarded. It will not in any way take anything away from the current player base.

It is a minor change that will not affect gameplay whatsoever - but will give hardcore raiders an edge in terms of item-satisfaction. Remove the Heroic/mythic green text label. Since with the war/thunderforged we are getting a bit too many labels and actually make a small purely aesthetic revamp - to truly give the hardcore base a feel for the items they are getting.

    INB4 Special Snowflake; INB4 Elitist

TL;DR: Mythic content red label proposal

One of things that made epics "epic" back in the day was itemization. The myth that its just a colour isn't completely accurate, there was a little more to it.
You could level a caster dps class in vanilla and get to 60 having less than 100 Spell Damage, when you finally got to the high level instances (level 55+) you'd start to see Spell Damage items. By the time you'd completed MC and farmed other dungeons you were getting closer to having 3-400 Spell damage and even higher. Your character became noticably more powerful. This is where that epic feeling came from, the purples meant more power and survival. Outside of raiding you were in blues and your characters progress slowed down drastically... unless of course you were PvP'ing.

In TBC and Wotlk (especially) Itemization changed to give people an easier time progressing in their first raiding tier. So, blues had similar stats to raid items only in smaller amounts, but the feeling of epicness went away with that. I remember playing my Rogue and just being shocked at how good some of the Blues were in TBC compared to Vanilla. I went on to gear very quickly in Karazhan and it wasnt exciting anymore. However... they had created the "new Epic", these were the epic items that dropped in any tier that were just godly... DST for example. It still hurts inside when I think back to TBC and never seeing it drop... ever.

How to re-establish it? I am out of touch with the new raiding scene, I've always thought that they made loot extremely boring after Wotlk, spells just seemed buffed in away that Scaling seemed to slow down and gear felt less crucial to success and those "godly" items stopped existing.

no. Trinkets should be the things that change your rotation, make you build your character around them.

It's not a bad idea, I'd anticipate it, if they decided to implement it

    Irrelevant, it's completely unnecessary.

You should focus more on different colors on paychecks/house/car.
Why is it that in the game it's suddenly so very important to have another color on something that people won't see anyway. They see the color of the gear your char is wearing, and it already have a special snowflake color.
Or would you use legendary lfr-gear even though your boring purple HC items would be better, if they had that? <.<
