Question Laptop for £400 - help please

Hiya All I am looking for a laptop around the £400 mark, max £450 but would prefer as close to £400 as possible

I am from the UK so needs to be a UK Supplier, I would prefer one with Win7 but I know a lot are Win 8 now. It will be for light game use eg app games and daft other games nothing intense like wow, car games etc. Mainly used for browsing, word processing and the like.

I am open to ideas about specs - I was looking @i3 or higher, min 4gb ram, prefer separate gfx over integrated if it can be helped wit a 14.5" or larger screen and a dvd drive

http://www.ebuyer.com/525084-hp-250-...op-h6q67ea-abu this is one I was considering, maybe someone knows a better site, prices etc

Thanks for any help and advise

    Thread moved to sub-forum.

The one you linked is fine, but I'd personally consider something thinner.

My girlfriend has around the same specs, as that but with a better processor, the graphics card on that is Intel HD 4000 graphics which do not run many things well, she can play WoW on medium and diablo 3 no problem as well as other games like that... but anything newer or with a lot going on ( other mmo's 25 man raiding) she gets very poor FPS.

If you're just facebooking / playing WoW / playing diablo on low, hearthstone, stuff like that. you should be okay, but you wont ever be able to run anything on very high settings with that, nothing new at least.

400$ for a gaming laptop is going to be a bit difficult, i assume you wanted gaming because that link is under the gaming laptop category on the site.

You lose 2 gigs of ram, but gain a dedicated graphics card, processor is the same, screen size is the same, 250gigs less of hardrive, but it is 100 dollars cheaper then the one you linked, Also windows 8.1.. mm ill continue to look around.

Its so damn hard to find a dedicated card and not a terrible Processor under 450 haha.

You can configure laptops here, they start pretty cheap. http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/gaming-laptops/

The laptop will be mainly used for apps, games not requiring much GFX power etc. Also word processing etc.

We have a desktop for gaming etc this is just something the kids can use for work, facebook and the like. I am just after something a little future proof (I think thats really impossible lol) with the budget given etc. I have looked around but laptops in general im not as good with as desktops hence the post

Well considering HD Intell 4000 Graphics can handle WoW raiding, it can handle any of that, so I wouldn't worry about a dedicated card like you wanted, you could easily can an I5 and 8 gigs of ram for 400$ which would run all of that quite quickly. Ill look again since I know it's only for facebook games and homework etc.
