Forcing communication does NOT make a community.
I would not want to play any game that forces me to communicate with (potentially horrible) strangers if i am not in the mood to do so.

LFR and LFD ruined the social experience for me. I remember being a level 13 warrior 9 years ago doing quests in westfall when I got a whisper asking if I would like to do Deadmines. I didn't know who it was but I looked around and saw a level 15 priest. I joined it and experienced my first dungeon run. Sadly people now a days will NEVER get to experience what I did on my first day of WoW. Its sad but without LFR and LFD I fear the game would have died a long time ago.
Its not often, I'm the guy who says hi/gz/answers question. But when blizzard removes group content in the world that previously encouraged group play they are telling people - Do it yourself - And when they implements automatic systems instead of the player interaction we had earlier they are clearly discouraging people communicating.
People are lazy bastards and will always take the shortest route as a designer its your responsibility, to both know this and encourage/discourage it. I'm not saying blizzard doesn't know this, I'm sure they do but in my opinion its the wrong choice.
Even though that's not much to begin with, those are people that you might actually see again. People that you can add to your friends list and ask to join your groups in the future. The people that you group with a few times can become friends. Whereas LFR or LFD no one talks unless its negative because you're never going to see those people again.
only social interaction in lfr is "kick so and so". either for being afk, a DC, refuses to release and run back or meter numbers being too low.
You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever, But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun...
And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise, And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea.
And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body, Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.
Was waiting for Huolon yesterday when SoO LFR popped up. Asked a random if he would be so kind to notify me of huolon spawned.
He whispered me 5 mins later "Huolon is dead now".
Its a reflection of the inbred anti-social society we allow to exist.
It is quite a revelation indeed except it says quite a bit about you.
First of all why would any random care about you? You're not their friend. You can become their friend, but you're not since you don't know them. People who expect favors from random people they don't know are known as slackers.
Second, it was you who was going to slack in LFR to kill Huolon. And what for really? He spawns every hour or so.
Third, if anything the random told you to finish your LFR (after you done Huolon would get approx back up again) which meant you wouldn't slack in your LFR by teleporting out. The random you complain about did the best for the LFR group he did not even know about.
community has died since introduction of cross realm lfd back in wotlk. lfd/lfg/lfr has ruined any reason to gather folks from your own realm and do stuff and forge friendships n stuff.......
everything that required social interaction has been ripped away. wow is a zombie of a game, the only social interaction I see now if I log on Is "anyone got blingtron?" or "blingtron in org ah" lol
Don't worry, no flying will fix it!
LOL
