Both male and female circumcision should be banned. Male circumcision should be done only for medical reasons. Female circumcision never.

People should be able to choose for themselves. Even if I had absolutely no _NEED_ to get it circumsized (I.E. a medical issue), I should still be able to have it so, at my own volition. Just like people are able to get tattoos, stretches and other unnecessary, permanent ''damage''.

I had it done to me when I was baby, don't really care. Mom said she was told by the doctors(This was 1989 so take that into consideration) it was a good thing. I quote and Mom said "I cried watching them doing that to you."

It's not even that. I honestly think I'm ok with what happened that and my Mom has looked out for me since day one and continues to watch out for me. I can't get pissy over something like this. I just can't. I get why people don't like it, that's cool and their view. However I view female circumcision worse due to biological differences and such. Male circumcision due to biology may not be as bad but being forced upon is bad.

I see the US, Canada and Australia and a percentage between 20 and 80 %. So it isnt telling that much. It could be 79 in the US and 21 in Australia.

Anyway - thats 3 developed nations - 2 of which are very similar in culture and in close proximity.

Basically the only group that appears to be making studies in favor of circumcision is the American Pediatrics Association.

All the other studies ive read either finds no benefits and goes the diplomatic route of "Eh, its important to some people to have the right to cut their infant's genitals" or finds several things wrong with it. Last study i read showed statistics saying 2 children die from complications from circumcision every week in the US. That is 2 children a week - for a completely unnecessary cosmetic procedure performed on the genitals of infants.

I think genital accidents are more common than many think. I saw a story last month about a woman who chose to have her child circumcised and the doctor cut his entire penis off. I'd be intereste in seeing how frequent this is.
