    Gpu upgrade help!

    Hello all,

I would like to upgrade my GPU. Computer specs are as follows:

    AMD 6300 Black edition (4ghz)
    Nvidia GeForce 660 OC
    8 gigs ram

Would like to know what the cheapest substantial graphics card upgrade would be. Looking to keep the price under 300 at max (250 or less is where I feel most comfortable). I currently play FFXIV:ARR and I get around 30-40 fps on Max settings (would like to try and get as close to 60 fps on Max as possible). Thank you for any input!

Hey there , i would recommend this gpu in particular because of its great performance for the price. Also it requires at least a 600 watt power supply. This is the link to it , trust me i have used this graphics card for over a year now, and its fantastic, i can run bf4 at 56 fps on ultra, Planetside 2 at 70 fps on ultra, Crysis 3 at 45 fps on ultra.

Thank you for the response, will have to look into that card. Seems to have quite a fair price also. Seems promising due to the fps you get on BF4, highly doubt my card would do that well. :P

I would ignore the above suggestion as the 270x is just a rebranded 7870 Ghz edition. It will perform nearly identically to your GTX 660. Your limiting factor however, is more so your CPU than the GPU. Especially in an MMO.
    i7-4770k - GTX 780 Ti - 16GB DDR3 Ripjaws - (2) HyperX 120s / Vertex 3 120
    ASRock Extreme3 - Sennheiser Momentums - Xonar DG - EVGA Supernova 650G - Corsair H80i

Your 660 is more than enough for any MMO. Your CPU however is very weak for MMOs.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($194.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: MSI B85M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($64.98 @ SuperBiiz)
    Total: $259.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

For a bigger upgrade you could get a 4670K + Z87 motherboard, but it will require you to break the 300 $ budget.
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

Thanks for the info, guess I will upgrade my motherboard/CPU first instead. Always wanted to switch to intel anyways

    - - - Updated - - -

My motherboard is: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD
is there any CPU upgrade I could do with that motherboard AMD wise that would be a good upgrade? Would be nice not having to change my motherboard out if at all possible :P

Sadly no, the superior single core performance of the Intel haswell CPU is by far a better upgrade for you than any CPU upgrade you could do on that motherboard.

"In single-threaded programs, the microprocessor is about 63% faster."

This will prove a huge benefit in a MMO like realm reborn.

Just wanted to say it's nice to see people telling the OP where the real performance bump is gonna come from rather than just what card. I think that's pretty awesome.
    Kudos guys.

Understood. :P thank you. Guess I will be getting the combo you recommended! Guess it also allows me to get a better GPU in the future also. Like a R9 280x or something along those lines.
