300% Exp Potion Buffed?

Ok so iirc before 5.4 the Elixir of Ancient Knowledge 300% experience potion could be used up to level 84 but disappeared when consumed and didn't persist through death, now the other day my friend got it and it dropped off the T'savoka cat on the timeless isle and he's been able to use it on his alts multiple times.

Did they change the way this potion works or something?

My intuition's telling me you or your "friend" is just peddling misinformation around to purposely troll people. It doesn't even drop off of that rare in the first place and I would be very surprised if it now persisted through death. I could be wrong, but I sincerely doubt that.

Definitely still consumed on use, and definitely still fades on death - I just popped one to be sure.

it doesn't drop off Tsavoka. It only drops from Archiereus of Flame on timeless isle and Krol the Blade...

I was in the group when it dropped... after killing Tsavoka, I know wowhead dosnt say it but it did drop off it...

p.s; I think they are putting a 500% exp bonus potion on the turtles on timeless.
