I only bought it because of my sota guildies, i think i had as much fun playing war z, I'm a sticker for alphas and zombies but haven't found anything to like about this yet, hoping it improve more than the war z did.

At least they didn't force feed you disinfectant. While it hasn't happened to me, it's honestly my favorite way to kill people, along with group beat downs on handcuffed players.

Lost my M4 and all my goodies to a dastardly swine yesterday, went by the name of 'Floor at the bottom of Rog', was climbing up the stairs and he struck from nowhere .

I can see the efforts Dean has put in to try and abate the KOS mentality, and to a degree it does work, but if anyone tries to stop me for items or blood I'll always either try and run or kill them because chances are they'll kill you anyway.

*edit* That said a friend of mine had an interesting encounter, he'd recently spawned and someone tried to hold him up and after explaining he had nothing to steal the robber escorted him to some military spawns and helped him get geared up, then logged off without any issues.

The guys took me to some apartment room and closed the door. I could hear them arguing about something silly from the other side of the door. He was talking about how I was just some random guy he met and that I wasn't going to ruin their relationship. One of them comes in, closes the door and sits next to me while he yells at his friend on the other side of the room telling him to calm down. As he does this, the other guy opens the door and then proceeds to point his m4 toward my head. They continue to RP as a gay couple, and then one of them says "I won't let him come in between our love" and then shoots me in the head through my helmet. They then proceeded to steal my tuna and left me unconscious.
That is Day Z for you lol.

That made my day, and it's Christmas here... lol

Still looking to find some friends who play DayZ, prefer Asian servers (HK) but I can play west to if you're cool. I just find it way more fun with another person.

Died twice to falling glitches losing everything that way is frustrating but understandable in an alpha, still havent been killed by a bandit.

bought the game cause rust is currently down.. i guess itll be a good time killer while i impatiently wait for rust to return.

Is it really only upto 40 people per server or have some been expanded to cater for more?

With the current state of the game , more then 40 people will be to much , because at this point you can only gear up and pvp .
I'm pretty sure they will also increase players to like 100 slots when they are adding all those new city's in the north and the island utes aswell , attleast lets hope so.

I used to think the same, that there would be people who would work together and so on, but I kept getting burned. Playing solo sucks for the most part, which is why you need friends to play it with. But for the most part, you just can't trust anyone :\ I had some guy call "friendly" to me he then held me up for my food. I managed to get away from him though because his aim was shit and his gunshots attracted zombies to him lol.

The only way to stop KOS is to put in massive amounts of zombies in the cities. That way, people are forced to team up and take out the zombies and take loot and run. One can dream aye.

They did say they're adding more zombies. But that would make it so very much tougher to get armed up when you've just started out. Zombies aren't very easy to deal with when you're unarmed.

If the zombies were increased in the cities and not so much in the smaller towns it would be okay, like you say right now zombies are a pita without a decent weapon.

Lots of zombies in the big cities would be great. I would LOVE to see big mobs of them if possible.
And I hate playing as a lonewolf, I keep getting held up and/or killed when I can't even find weapons. The best that I found was an M4 and never even got a chance to get ammo for it. /SIGH

or you can leg it for Green Mountain, fresh from spawn I leg it inland not stopping for food or water, you can get pretty far in b4 you need to eat/drink anything.

I normally stop at the first little town for a axe and a drink at a well

Make starting weapons (axes, bats, etc) more common.

Get to the top of a firestation, log out, switch to a server that hasn't got many people on it, go down, loot weapons and supplies, repeat!

So that's how ppl do it! No wonder it seems like everyone and their grandmother are always decked out in less than 15 mins.

edit: i just did that and i got two pistols and some ammo for it. I got so excited and I walked off the edge somehow and died. I can't ever win LOL
